Default Brake line flush/gasket repair

Hi all,
Just had the '04 in for service, Lexus stated needs brake line flushed because fluid is dark brown. Also Head Gasket and Oil Pan gasket are 'crusting'. Not showing signs of leakage but was told this is a 'pre-leakage' warning. Was quoted about $400 for the brake flush (seems real high to me), and the gasket replacements around $600. Not sure about this one. Haven't gotten quotes elsewhere but does anyone have any experience with this? Also, with the sludge issue, was there any type of TSB or recall done? I've had since new and always had the oil changed every 6 mo's as it is low mileage- 64k. Done either at Lexus or Toyota. Any info is appreciated, thanks.--- as a side note, I dd a search and couldn't find any info regarding these issues.

The brake fluid flush and replace was due at 60K and considering the age of the vehicle it certainly needs to be done. The $400 price is excessive. I had the entire 60K service done at Lexus in Santa Barbara, California for that price. You should consider having this done at another shop.

Thank you for the response. I am going to contact the dealer today to verify what all they planned on doing for $400, as this was a rather brief discussion and the SA didn't really go into detail and we didn't push at the time. I will post an update once I get some concrete info. Maybe he was quoting the 60k service...just didn't include everything in what would be done.

take it somewhere else or even the toyota dealer. What is more surprising is that it is only $600 to replace head gasket and oil pan gasket. Oil pan gasket is walk in park but there is a lot of **** you have to remove to get to the head gasket lol. I would expect that to be closer to $800-1000 job. I mean, most lexus dealers charge over $600 JUST to do spark plugs.

to be fair, the rear spark plugs are a major PITA to get to on the 2GR engines it seems. $400 for brake fluid flush is robbery. should be $100 tops.

I am fully aware of this - go check out my DIY for the rear spark plugs and you'll see.
