Default Battery Replacement With 9v Holding Power

Recently successfully replaced battery on my MBenz using a 9v battery
to save stored settings. Has anyone tried this technique?

I use a Battery Tender attaching the clips to the car battery's cables before loosening the battery cable clamps. Works perfectly, saving all settings. Just be sure to wrap each "connection" in tape to prevent inadvertently touching a ground. The 9V thing in the lighter probably won't work for cars where the lighter circuit is not powdered when the engine is off.

no i have not done it via the cigarette lighter. it was through a positive pole inside the hood of the car that is active using alligator clips. 9v was used so it wont overload the system once the 12v battery is connected. Cant seem to locate a similar post in my RX.

If you get this to work, let me know. Seems like it should though!

I tried the 9v battery thing the last time I changed the battery, and the 9v battery was drained before I completed the swap. My radio and seat memory settings were still intact, but I had to reset the windows and sunroof.
I have a Battery Tender and see now that I should have used that instead, as who has time for all those resets?
