Hi,

I am looking to purchase a used RX. Right now there is a 2009 RX350 for 22.9k (pre negotiating) and a 2008 RX 400H 23.9k (pre negotiating). Both are about the same mileage and have about the same features, navigation, camera, etc. Both are FWD (CA).

Which SUV should I consider? On weekdays, I travel mostly on local streets and weekends on freeways. I live in CA.

Would it be better to look into a 2007 model?

I'm looking to have this car for quite some time or at least until the kids are older.

I'd go with the 09 350 just because you won't have to do the timing belt at 90k. That 400h uses the old RX 330 engine which is a timing belt, not a chain like the newer 350's. It is up to you though. If they are similarly equipped and both have good service history, neither would be a bad choice.

Why do want to have a look at a 2007 RX? Just inquisitive to why you consider it a better option.
I have a 2006 RX which I believe was released here before the RX350 became available in the US during 2007. So it is the same vehicle you are referring to. If you consider it better than the later models, of course it will make my day.

Neither would be a bad choice. Have you test driven both to determine your preferences? I personally prefer the added torque & mpg's and how quiet the 400h is. YMMV.

Define "better". What are your priorities?
