We always get either the AWD or 4WD when we buy SUVs. Just a more peace of mind when we head up to Lake Tahoe and not need to put on chain. Plus we found out that the resale value is higher on AWD here in the SF bay area.

It never seems if you can get much info on the RX's AWD system (thanks to CL, I have a manual heading this way), but I've read somewhere that Lexus dumped the viscous drive for electronic control. Of course one would like to know what is lurking behind all the electronic sorcery. It can be that Lexus in their eternal wisdom thought that the average driver will be content with knowing where the front of the vehicle is, but the better you know a vehicles mechanicals, the better you can drive it.
