I just joined last week and have been enjoying the Rx 330 we bought. I have been reading as many threads and responses as I can to catch up. Here is where I need some direction:

I took my Lexus to the dealership for an oil change, to have them check the rear hatch seal and to inspect the car. Overall everything is in order. He did mention that the brakes were aftermarket and didn't have the shim which could cause vibration or squeals. He said a boot on the steering rack was ripped and needed to be replaced ASAP. He also mentioned that the timing belt service is based on time and mileage. Ours is an '05 with 69000 miles. He said we should do the service early, like in the next few months. The rear hatch seal was leaking but it was replaced, hence the water marks inside. What are your thoughts on what we should get done first?

Welcome to Club Lexus MtpRX330. I would recommend you check the service history of the vehicle you bought at the Lexus Owners website see what service has been done on this vehicle at Lexus (link below). I would replace the missing brake shim then do the timing belt.

I did the lexus registration and checked the service history before taking it to the my local Lexus dealership. It wasn't very specific except for oil changes and alignments. I need to get that boot done first and I will do the timing belt in the next month or so.

If the vehicle has been regularly serviced at a Lexus dealer, then you should ask your local Lexus dealer for the service history of the vehicle. They should be able to pull up and print every service ticket for that car, which also includes things like notes that were entered and an itemized cost breakdown for everything that was performed for each service. It's just something that might be interesting to look into.
