Default 17" to 18" wheels

Been thinking of upgrading to some used Lexus 18" OE wheels for my '08 RX 350. Has anyone noticed a stiffer or more harsh ride switching from 17" to 18". Do you feel the imperfections in the road more ? Just wondering because when I switched my stock 16" wheels to Supra 17" on my '98 SC there was a difference, but not too bad.

Most RX350 on the road today run OEM 18" Wheels. I doubt you will feel any difference.

Even with 18 inch rims, you still have plenty of sidewall. It may be just a tiny bit harsher, but I don't think you will notice. Like Rainbird mentioned, it seems that most RXs have the OEM 18s.

As neelnaik indicated, I think the 1/2-inch loss of sidewall is quite small compared to the remaining sidewall. Many coupes/sedans/wagons today can even accommodate 20-inch wheels without any adjustments to ride height. However, concerning the cars you quoted, I think there's an additional factor that the wheels that are considered good investments are products of better manufacture and materials; that means they would be a lot more homogenous on the molecular level than factory-standard wheels, so they're also more resonant to vibrations. Does this sound about right to all of you?

For the money you are going to spend you may as well go with 19" RX wheels from a 2010 and up. I got a set of 19s for $400. 18s probably run the same.

I had found a set of 4 2012 RX wheels and well used tires on ebay. I had read that the later year wheels weren't compatible with the '08's, offset or something else. I posted a question about fitment on here, but there was only a few hours left on the auction and they went for $236.00. So will all year OE Lexus RX wheels fit my '08 ? cause then I could go 19" or whatever. I really like the look of the 2012 RX 18" wheels. Yeah 18" OEM wheels are around $100-130 each
I follow what your saying hoOn.

There are some in thisforum of someone with OEM 19s on their older RX. Both wheels have an off set of 35. I test fit 19" wheels only to my 06 and they fit. I won't need tires until later in the year.

Just my $0.02:

IMO Tire inflation pressure can play into harshness, too. I have formula for tire spring rate somewhere....You'd be surprised how stiff it can be. Start out with mfr's recommended pressures.
