Default Replacing condenser on 05 RX330

I had a rock fly off of another vehicle and put a hole in my condenser. How difficult is it to replace this myself? Was crazy easy on my previous car.

The thing is, it also involves a vacuum and recharge. And should replace the receiver/dryer when its apart.

It's not a master mechanic job, but not one for an Amatuer. You do have to evacuate the system and recharge. Also will have to remove radiator and fan housings. It is about a 4 hour job for an Amatuer type mechanic. Not a quick job. You might consider replacing fan motors while you have them out as they go bad eventually in the RX's.

Install the mesh now, for RX330 owners. You will have peace of mind. And aesthetically they look good.

I get this. The system is already evacuated, however, i would have to take to be recharged anyway. My concern is in the difficulty in changing the parts out.

Thank you for this! I will be doing this as well! His/her car is the same color as mine, seeing the pics, I think I'll go ahead and paint it black. Great instructions!

Got the condenser changed out and the mesh on the air dam. Really wasn't too difficult. Thanks for the tips and the link!

Default Condenser Replacement Steps

I know I'm digging up an old thread but can anyone confirm the steps to replace the condenser? Is it truly required to remove the radiator and fan? I was under the assumption I could access and remove it without removing these components. Can anyone confirm? @Kellybh stated it wasn't too difficult but didn't really elaborate in his post. I'm planning on doing the repair in a couple of days and also adding mesh to my air dam for future protection.

Thanks,

- kentukred

Default Condenser

I'm sorry, I didn't include too much information in my post (hers, not his). Please feel free to ask specifics. Yes, it was quite easy. I did not have to remove the radiator or fan.

Talk about bad luck, will be installing the mesh ASAP as I am not one to depend on good luck.
Great advice mandyfig, thanks, priority sticker for this DIY in the never ending "RX To Do Jar"
