Default Introducing Larna

In my ongoing tradition of naming every new car I get, I would like to introduce Larna to the forums. Larna is a 2005 Lexus RX330 Sports Luxury and replaced my old car Harriet (which was a 2003 model). Here are a few pictures.

There are a couple of things that will need to be done on the car (mostly personal things) but we'll see how we go. For now just enjoying driving the "new to me" car as quite frankly it is sooooo much quieter than my last car.

In Australia, we have 2 flavours with the 2nd Gens (we have 3 or 4 with the 3rd gen's) being "Sports" or "Sports Luxury". The "Sports Luxury" is pretty much Nav screen with the GPS, sunroof, ML stereo etc and everything that the Sports doesn't have.

Things I intend for Larna are
  1. Get some European style plates for the front particularly as I hate that number plate holder
  2. New Tyres (these have thread but will need to get replaced)
  3. Tint for the front windows
  4. Lip for the front
  5. Module to control the power mirrors via the remote
  6. IPod adapter for the stereo (probably a GTA at this stage, nothing too fancy)
  7. Possibly an updated grill
  8. A new tow ball too
  9. Get rid of at least the cross (Lexus genuine) braces on the roof rack

Looks good! Very similar to the 04 I just picked up. Were you able to get a decent price for the 03 that you had issues with?

I'm planning to remove the roof rack on mine as well as I doubt I'll ever use it and think it might look a bit cleaner without it and might reduce some wind noise around the sunroof.

Thanks. In Australian dollars and redbook (which is the valuation of a motor vehicle site we refer to) I got a fairly good price and sold it in pretty much 1 day. The cost to upgrade to this one was an extra $8000 from the selling price (I had about $7000 worth of work to do on the other one). For me my previous car and new car are both 2nd gen's (as the RX330 was released in Australia in 2003), just 2 years apart.

I removed the roof racks on my last one and make sure you seal that hole up good. Additionally make sure that if you do completely remove the racks to check the drainage pipes in case sometimes gets dislodged and blocks the drain holes. I learnt the hard way on my last car with the passenger side of my car being flooded when ever there was heavy rain or I was washing the car. For now, I think I will just leave the roof racks on.

Many of us are curious to see what draco will do with his new ride. He wore his last one out.

Be sure to spend some time looking around the existing threads, especially the stickies at the top of this forum.

I've been checking lots of stuff out since I bought my wife's rx330 this past Saturday.

There is a kit for that:

http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2004/2422.html

If you register first with Sewell as a CL member before adding the item to your cart while logged in you will automatically see the discounted price.

Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize removing it introduced a possible water intrusion issue. I might reconsider removing it, unless this kit is pretty much fool proof.

Just be sure to use some teflon tape on the new bolts.

Mine's been off for a couple of years with no issues using the Sewell kit. If I recall, it's a one inch bolt, properly tightened it isn't going to leak.
