If you are hell-bent on changing tire size to give you more sidewall, perhaps you might consider 235/60-18. The change should have minimal impact on the speedometer while giving you the other things you want. With this size if the speedometer reads 70MPH you would be doing just over 72MPH. You will have to research the tires you want to see about availability and pricing.
Not a change I would consider at this point in time for my RX330, IMO. Would rather rely on selecting a different brand and/or make of tire which better matched the vehicle and my needs.

LOL ... I AM NOT HELL BENT AT ALL ...
I am merely asking forum members who own the same vehicle as me if this has been done...
and if so what were the results.
OK... I found some Cooper CS4 Touring (60K Warranty) that look promising. What do you guys think, Great reviews and only $121!

Yes, that is why your ride is so terrible. Sidewalls are extra tough. Many BMW owners have to put up with them and hate them. Since there is no spare at all, to save weight I guess, BMW uses run-flat tires on their 3 series -- at a minimum. Any quality non-run-flat tire will give you a better ride than these.
BTW, do you still have a spare tire on your RX? Wondering if the previous owner ditched it or if they just did not understand what they were putting on the vehicle.

Well, sh_t. Sorry, and thanks guys... Sticking with a 235/55!
If I would have brought this up from the get go, I would have known and replaced them sooner
There is however a plus to all this, at 86k, my wife is gonna love her car all over again!
Cooper's or Nitto's. THAT is (now) the question.

I have 225/60-18 Firestone Winterforce on my RX. Didnt really notice any difference. I dont think such a small diamteter difference would make any significant difference.
AS for for summer tires I have Bridgestone Alenza H/L. Such a good tire. 600 Tread wear and super smooth riding. Love them.

I just want a good smooth, quiet wet weather tire.
OMG you just dont know! It's rough and loud. I just bought a new 2013 Tundra and my wife cant get over how smooth it is.
