I had looked into sensors (I assume you mean the TPMS in the wheel), and a set can be obtained a lot cheaper than your quote for one of them. Of course, you will then have to pay for dismounting/remounting the tires, but you should be good for five to eight years. If recall correctly, the manufacturer was Titan. You could search for Titan TPMS and see what gives.
I believe it is necessary to change all sensors (including the spare) if you change one, because the in-car system has to be programmed for the set as whole. But I am not sure. Good luck!
