Default Trade in on 330,000 mile 10 year old RX

They are giving us $4000 for a trade in, but we are not paying for any of the maintenance just done or that which was needed to make it drivable again. We may have been able to do better if we paid the $3000 to fix it and then sold it on our own, but that would have been taking a risk and I feel like I would have had to tell the buyers what happened. We are content with that result, but I am going to miss ReX.

I think $4000 is an amazing price!

RX330's with 100k miles are going for $10-11k where I am.

You would have had to sell it for at least $7k to do better than what the dealer was offering. $7k is a lot for an RX330 with 330k miles!

Enjoy the new RX! And, keep us posted with how many miles you rack up!

I drive about 30,000/year, mostly from CT down to Philly and up to Boston and NH (we have a vacation home there) - I don't live in a car and could easily have done another 20-30k/year. Heck, I even now have 31,000 on my 2013 Wrangler (not the most comfortable highway cruiser made).

Its great to hear about these high mileage RXs. Just bought my wife an 05 with just under 100k. Can't wait to see how long it will last.

I am buying 2004 RX 330 with 40,000 miles from original owner next week for my wife. I knew top quality of Lexus brand but the mileage above shocks me....Wow. By the way, I have one Honda Odyssey with 370k Mileage for real. ^^ Nice to join CL forum.

Jengelha,

Did you do a spark plug change? I don't see where you mentioned that maintenance item?

Yes, we have done the plugs at least a few times. I pretty much consider those consumables, so I did not even think about it. I also did not notice it on the maintenance log. My guess is that they are included at certain intervals, so it was "hidden". I remember trying to change them once and it being a pain to get at the back ones, so I let them have the fun with it.
