Good Day All,

I want to purchase an rx 330 2005 edition .

I decided to run a carfax check on it and i was surprised that there was no record of any maintenance carried out.

To add to my concern ,the last trace of any record on the rx 330 was in 2011 .

Should i go for it ?

 Hmm, we haven't received any information on this car since March 2011. Before you buy, ask the seller for recent service or repair records.

Go to your local Lexus dealer service dept with the vin and ask them to pull it up on the computer. Also ask the seller where he got it serviced or look in the glove box for paperwork. Then go to that dealer and ask them to tell you what was serviced.

its gets things missed by Carfax. In fact, a dealer friend of mine said that's all they use for auction cars b/cthey've been burned a few times w/Carfax

If the owner does maintenance himself/herself, there will be no service record. What you can do is to get a mechanics to check the car and it doesn't cost too much.

Agreed take to good mechanic familiar w these cars. I do everything on my car and my wife's RX myself including timing belt. Because of this there wont be a record at dealer. However, ive always kept receipts and such to show potential buyer. Ive always allowed someone to take a car i am selling to mechanic - it is the fair and right thing to do. If someone refuses, that is a sign.

I don't think carfax would include maintenance information. Lexus dealer is your bet for it.

I don't think Carfax would have maintenance info either. Even if it did, Carfax and similar service are often missing information. Check with the seller. Check with Lexus and/or the Lexus owner site. Get it inspected. No different than buying any other vehicle.

Impossible to even begin to say based on what has been provided. I wouldn't make any purchase based solely on that information.
