Rx330 power lift gate woes

After the fuse, the next items to check would be the power back door motor and then the power back door ECU. Sounds like the back door lock assembly is working as it should.

Hey Henry,
Sometimes the door will go into 'fail-safe' mode if someone upsets the sequence of events it goes through during power operation. My wife has a nasty habit of upsetting her car. First- car must be in park. Apply the parking brake for good measure. Key must be on. All doors must be unlocked. Then, push the button on the dash and hold until the door opens. Then, all should be well.

Update its working now. My hunch is it has to do with something Lexus may have disconnected and reconnected when they were working on the glovebox. Initally they just replaced the lock[ last week], then they ended up replacing the entire glove box with a brand new one [this week]. As I had mentioned yesterday I checked the fuses, all looked good. I checked the glove box and noticed the button was in the deactivated position. I pushed it in, the rear hatch worked. Mind you I was toggling this button all weekend.
We took the truck back to the dealership becuase the car we just bought would not pass safety inspection due to the leaking power steering rack, They intially just changed the boots, the safety insepction place noticed it and they failed it again. We took the car back to lexus, they replaced the power steering rack, new glove box and I guess fixed the power hatch issue. I spoke to the service mgr and he said we put about 2k in parts and labor. No out of pocket cost for me. God is good!
So we got a even smoking deal 2004 13,500 for a 76k mile flint mica truck all service was done at the dealship we bought it from [checked my lexus] all in all Im happy. Got a great deal in my opinion.
Shout out to Lexus of Alexandria, our salesman Mark Coleman was awesome and the preown mgmt team as well.
This is why we now have 2 lexus' an IS and a RX next god willing will be the LS which will be for me

Thanks for reporting back. Glad to see that all is well now. As you had been pressing the glove box button previous I had moved on to other possible problem areas. Perhaps the new glove box came with a new button.
