Tailgate Alarm RX400H
Does anyone know of a way to disable the auto tailgate audio warning?
I'm aware that it's not a simple switch or anything like that but had hoped there would be some "wiring hack" or similar that someone may know about.
Regards.

If you are referring to the annoying beeping that happens as the back door opens and closes, previous posts in this forum alerted me to the fact that it is fairly easy to open the inside of the back door and unplug the little speaker that generates this noise. Search here to find those instructions. Unfortunately, there is also a speaker under the dash somewhere that makes the same noise and cannot be readily unplugged (which might not be wise, as it signals other conditions also).
I have done the rear speaker disconnect thing, and the sound level drops to about 25% of its original intensity, which is a big improvement and well worth the 15 minutes of poking around the hatch door.
My car is an RX330, but I presume that the mechanics and electronics for the 400h are the same.
I don't know if this is a "wiring hack" or not, as I am unfamiliar with that expression, but it works - pulling the wire out of a device usually does.

You think that sound is annoying? Found out the other day, if the door hasn't completely closed and you put the car in gear, it will beep like a truck backing up until the door shuts all the way!

The alarm, even in a parking lot with the car not in motion, is loud and annoying. By pulling the plug on the rear "speaker," the alarm is still audible but is greatly reduced in volume. Lowering the volume of unnecessary noise in my vicinity is a goal devoutly to be desired.
And here, easily accomplished, and at no charge.

From what I was able to read the RX400h uses Lexus Personalized Settings (LPS) while our 2004 RX330 uses the older CBEST settings, as an example. When did LPS start, in 2005? We did not get Bluetooth, either.
More than likely for a fee. Also, this is an LPS option and not a CBEST option.

On my RX ('04), I can change the number of beeps but cannot go lower than 3 or 4. I have not heard that the volume of these warnings can be changed at all, even by the dealer, but maybe that can be done on newer cars. If not, you could locate and muffle the noisemaker.
I find that the lower volume from having only the under-dash buzzer active is a nice compromise: it gives some audible warning that the rear hatch is in motion, but does not make a racket like a cement mixer backing up to a construction site.
And, for what it's worth, a presumption is different from an assumption.

That's an interesting comment, to which I would suggest that first and foremost, any forum is a good place for a general RX knowledge challenge, and secondly, there is no fourth gen RX. Gen 1 was the original, gen 2 began with the new body in 2004 and carried on through the 330 and 350 until the 3rd gen was introduced a few years ago (2010), with a different grille, a completely new interior and different tail lights, to mention a few of the most readily discernible differences. Unless I missed some recent announcements, I think that's it, as far as that "gen" term is generally used.
But I'll check to see if something is jammed up behind my fax machine.
