My 2009 RX350 had the vvti line replaced at 16,000 miles on the recall with the improved rubber line that has the yellow line on it. It now has 141,000 on it and is not leaking. Do you think that the dealer will replace it with the metal line at no cost to me or does it have to be leaking? ( I see the recall goes to Dec. of 2021 or 150,000 miles). The rear bank looks like a major project to replace with the metal line. I do not know if I would want to try it myself. I did replace the oil cooler lines with the all metal myself and it was not too bad.

I would try inquiring with the dealer to see if they will still replace those lines.

Matt, Before I did that, I was just inquiring to see if others had the metal line replacement done by the dealer under the recall. I would be able to press the issue when I go to the dealer if others had theirs replace under the recall.

yes i know i believe quite a few peep on here have had it done under recall. Which reminds me i need to have mine checked.

I'd think Lexus would replace the vvti line w/ the same as they've done w/ the oil cooler hoses.....I'd possibly see what the dealer would say. 1st thing I did was replace the bank 1 vvti line as well as the oil cooler lines after buying this vehicle.....

I keep my cars a long time so I called the dealer and wanted it changed even if I had to pay for it. They changed it for no charge. Even got to drive a LS while waiting. This was 3 years ago. 2008 RX with 65,000 miles.

just called one of my local lexus dealers; they looked up my vin number and told me it was done about 10 years ago so it appears im good thankfully.

I'd be looking to see if its a spiced rubber line like the original one or a all metal line......more then likely its a spiced line. The all metal line isn't really that spendy, specially when you don't have to worry/sweat it when its a metal line, same as the oil cooler lines.....

The metal line is not expensive at all but I think the labor to replace it could be very high. Like I said, mine was replace under recall with the upgraded rubber hose which is a very easy job. My question is will they replace it with the metal line since it was done on mine, many years ago with the rubber hose. Just wondering if anyone had the rubber upgraded line replaced with the metal line under the recall. The recall shows replacement with the upgraded rubber hose not the metal line. Thanks!

well i will try and look. where is this line so i know what to look for?

In this picture, see on the left where the oil filler cap is. If you look behind it you can see the metal line. Its actually about 8 inches behind it. Look at the metal line and as it goes down toward the engine head, on mine, their is a clamp with a rubber hose on it. That is the oil style. Right below the clamp on the rubber hose, mine has a yellow line which is the upgraded rubber hose. If it continues out of site all metal, then you have the latest upgraded metal line. Hope this helps.

Following up on this thread regarding the VVT-i hose line.
I have a new to me from 4 yrs ago, a 2007 RX350 AWD - when I bought it I was told that in 2011, it had the LSC 9LH service campaign done for the VVT-i oil hose. Later on, it seems like the 9LH campaign only replaced the rubber portion of the VVT-i line with a new upgraded rubber piece - something which supposedly has a yellow line to indicate the new part.
Anyway I find that some owners here have replaced that rubber VVT-i line with a aftermarket all metal line from Dorman. (#625-5190

I have talked to the part dept at both local Lexus and Toyota dealerships and they both are quite certain that there is NO Toyota branded all metal line. Does that sound correct - if not, could anyone supply a correct part # to help track this elusive part.

My recall was done 10 years ago, and while there is a possibility that the upgraded rubber line is going to be fine for many more years, I have read occasional reports of the second failure of the line that is cause for some minor concern. So if no OEM all metal line is available that I might consider the Dorman #625-519. Any personal experiences with that?

NOTE: this posting is NOT about the 'oil cooler line' in the bottom of the engine block - with is twin twisted metal pipe That one I replaced a while ago.

You need to look for it for 2013+ model years, same 2gr-fe engine, like this (note they call it a cooler line, but it is the bank 1 VVT-i line):
