Default Ask for suggestions to improve security

I just purchased a 2008 RX350, however, I only got 1 remote key from the dealer. I am asking for your suggestions about improving the security of my car. Should I replace the lock? Or other methods could help prevent theft. Thanks!

Welcome to Club Lexus mikezy. This happens frequently someone trades in the car and turns over only one key to the dealership. The Lexus RX comes with Two master keys a valet key and credit card emergency key. Since there are so many RX's on the road in California you should have nothing to worry about especially if you change the license plate. The alternative is to have Lexus change the key code (requires a computer) and cut new keys. This will be expensive. Other alternatives are to install a remote starter with new fob's or a hidden immobilizer.

This is what you should have received, right from your Owner's Manual:

http://drivers.lexus.com/t3Portal/do.../sec_01-01.pdf

It is common for owners to not return all the keys at the end of the lease or when they sell their vehicle. Nothing unique here. You might talk to the dealer about getting you the right number of keys if you purchased from a Lexus dealership.

Thank you for the reply, Rainbird.

Can I request DMV for a new plate with new number? Or I have to go with a personalized plate.

I lucked out when we bough our 08 RX350 AWD from the dealer last year. Came with 3 masters, 2 valets and 1 credit card key. Somehow the previous owner must have lost a lot of keys before?
Anyway, the moment I got the car, had an aftermarket Viper alarm with remote start installed.
I wouldn't worry about security, RX350s a dime a dozen in the SF bay area here. If I were you, I will just request DMV to give me a new license plate and bite the bullet and order a couple more keys.

08 Avalon Touring (mine) with Viper alarm/remote start

you can have the dealer to "remove" the keys that was lost (using scantool)

it will not start the car but they can still open the doors.
