Sun Glasses Compartment
Just wanted to share this in case someone else encounters the same situation.
As I was pulling in to the dealership yesterday for routine maintenance, I opened the ceiling compartment (just behind the rear view mirror and in front of the panel that controls the dome lights, moon roof, etc.) to put my sun glasses in and it would not latch when I closed it. I asked the service manager to have it checked and when the other work was finished, he told me that the cost of replacing the compartment is $1,100 because the entire panel has to be replaced.
I asked him if it was covered by my extended warranty and he said he would check, but doubted it as they probably consider it a "trim" piece.
About an hour after I left the dealership, he called to report that the warranty will cover it and that he would place the order immediately. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. It's a shame that something as minor as a tiny little plastic piece being worn down would end up requiring a $1,100 part + repair cost.
