Red face rx 350- 08- heated seats not working!!

Hello, newbie to the forums

I noticed last week that my drivers side heated seat are not functioning. It seems that there may a little bit of heat coming through.... the light on the switch is working and the passenger side seems to be ok.

Please advise. Much appreciated.

assuming you have a volt meter, unplug the seat heaters. and check them for continuity. what can happen over time is the wires can break causing is to stop working.

they cannot be repaired, just replaced.

the dealer should be able to at least properly diagnos and give you an estimate for less than an hours labour, half hour labour should be enough with the right mechanic.

if they do need to be replaced, you are looking at a rather large bill, lots of labour, probably 2-3 hours per seat plus parts.

since the light is still lighting up, the fuse should still be good, and the relay should be fine. i would start with the above.

Hi there.... thanks for the response.... would you be able to provide insight/directions to checking continuity/unplugging the seat heater.
Do I have to take seat off/ or can I access this from under the seat. if so which plug?

Does the rx350 have heat elements or is it a heating pad.... would I have to replace these parts as well?

Thanks again. and I applogize if some of these q's are...

i havent replaced them on the lexus brand, only when i worked at Acura. they should be similar layout (probably same supplier)

look under the seat to find the plug, there should be two, one for the seat bottom, one for the seat back. both plugs should only have two wires going to them. most multimeters have an option to check continuity, when the prongs are touched, the machine will beep. now connect them to the two wires and hope they beep. if they beep, then the seat heater pad is good, and you have another problem. if it doesnt beep, then there is a braek in the connection, and it needs to be replaced.

as far as which plug, just make sure its not the ones going to the seat motors.

perhaps someone else in the forum can shed some more light.

Thumbs down Not Lexus For Life Yet

I just leased a 2017 RX 350 on January 2 and my heated seat is useless. I’ve taken the vehicle to service twice in the past two weeks and they keep telling me that everything is fine. From what I understand, it is technically NOT a heated seat like I was used to in my previous Acura but just ventilated warm air. Apparently, it is taking over an hour to warm up on the highest setting and even after that, it’s still not very warm. I drove 35 minutes to the dealer and had the service technician feel the seat was still cold, yet they called me to tell me everything was fine. I’m a petite person living in the Northeast and I’m freezing in my new Lexus. I absolutely love the car otherwise but this is a pretty big deal to me and I’m not sure what can b done. Any suggestions?
