My 2008 RX 350 chain makes loud noise, when i start it cold. Do some one knows what the problem is it is very bad like a diesel truck. 2008 46.000 miles. i read some comment and some people say that dealer told them that this is normal. if this is normal i what the Lexus to take the car back and drive it them selves. the engine should be quiet. I was thinking abut thanking some action again Lexus but i need more owners with this problem if they do not fix the problem. i love my Lexus but i think that if factory **** it up why i have to drive the car that sound like a diesel an it is uncomfortable for me. i only want them to fix because i wont to be a Lexus owner for many years to come i love those cars but the service needs to perfect.

does it only make the sound when it is cold as you turn over the engine, and then the sound disappears after 1-2seconds? Mine did that and it was a VVTi mechanism that had to be replaced.

Otherwise the engine should be fairly quiet, though mine does have a high-pitched ticking when it's running. Perhaps that is normal on these engines?

You think your RX engine is noisy ? Try listening to the 2IS/3GS engine with direct injectors...that sounds more like a diesel engine.....

If your not happy with it, I suggest taking it in there and have them listen to it..tell them that you are concerned and that you don't like what your hearing. Ask them to start another one up with chain...

if they still won't do anything, contact Lexus directly. The last thing you want to do is go in starting a **** storm. Be polite but persistent. You never know what you might need from them later on down the road.
