Default RX 350 2008 - Realistic Fuel Consumption

Hi Everyone

I have been really interested in the 2007/2008 RX 350, i test drove my first one today and loved it.

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on the actual fuel consumption for the RX 350 that I could expect.

My driving habbits would be, general running around, groceries, visiting family 30km away, mainly suburban driving. between 150 - 200km a week.

I know they state 11.2 L Per 100km, I doubt I will achieve this, I am hopeful it wont be 20L per 100km also!!

If anyone can advise first hand that would be much appreicated.

Cheers
Gary

We get about 18-19 miles per gallon city and 24-25 miles per gallon highway depending on speed, terrain, and traffic.

11.2 L Per 100km = 21 miles per US gallon

20L per 100km = 11.76 miles per US gallon

Think I got those conversions correct.

1 US mile = 1.60934 km
1 US gallon = 3.78541 L

The True Delta site tracks mileage for actual owners of vehicles and would give you some additional input.

Driving style (leadfoot or not), AC usage and length of trips can also affect fuel economy. Short trips will negatively impact fuel economy.

Avg 19.5 mpg combined sub-urban (many hills) and hwy driving or roughly 350 miles until empty light. AC on 99.9% of time during summer and heater on 99.5% of time in winter.

That calculates to about ~12 l / 100 km

Hi everyone

Thanks for the comments, I feel much better about the fuel consumption hearing from real life use, the results are quite comforting.

Cheers

All the usual will help keep your mileage values:

* Regularly check tire pressures
* Remove any unnecessary weight
* Run the AC and heat as little as possible (I realize this is sometimes not very practical)
* Use premium fuel only in your RX350. What it is designed to run on. Unlike the RX330, the 2nd Generation RX350 really needs premium fuel.
* Make sure to use a 5W20 or 0W20 weight motor oil

Here in the states our fuel has 10% ethanol which has a negative impact on fuel mileage. If you do not have ethanol in your fuel you may do better.

The short trips, naturally, will kill your fuel mileage.

I have a 2008 RX 350, burn Premium 91 or 93. I drive both city and country.

In the city I avg about 18.5 in the spring/summer and 17.9 in the winter.

On the hwy about 23 mpg with the air on driving at 70 mph, and 25 mpg without the air on driving 70 mph.

I have an '08 RX350, use premium fuel, and drive a mix of city and highway. I drive extremely conservatively and usually get between 21 and 23 mpg using manual calculations (the car's computer overestimates fuel economy by up to 1 mpg sometimes).

The area I live in has lots of hills, and try to coast down them as much as possible (and maintain constant acceleration when going up them), sometimes putting the car into neutral if traffic allows. I try to use cruise control as much as possible on roads that don't have many stop signs or lights. I've found that by doing this, and I can get around 400 miles per tank (I consider anything over 400 per tank success).

Car maintenance certainly has a part in achieving and maintaining good gas mileage, but I find driving style matters the most. When my girlfriend drives the car, the mileage goes down considerably (much to my chagrin) just due to her more aggressive driving style.

My awd 2008 gets about 17 mpg in town and around 25 on the highway at 75-80 mph. I use 93 premium. Michigan does't sell 91. So my choices are 89 or 93 octane.

My 2006 rx330 gets 25 MPG ( 4.5L = 1 CA gallon) AWD. It's a 5 SP Auto. I think the RX350 has a extra gear, 6 so the mileage should be a bit better. I use premium fuel which is what is recommended for the 2006 RX's.I'm very happy with the MPG. jamie
