2007 Alternator clutch failing ?
Turning to the wisdom of the forum.
Problem: 2007 with 48k miles. When I turn off the engine, there is a little squeal like something is still spinning and coming to a stop. I looked at the raditor fans and they were not moving. The accessory belt stops and then the noise starts. It doesn't do it when the car is cold (e.g. turn the motor on, run for a few minutes then turn it off). Does it more after driving a while and the car is hot. Couldn't figure it out so I took it to my Toyota dealer (no Lexus dealer here).
They say that it's the clutch pulley on the alternator. The alternator checks out fine (130amp version) but that the clutch pulley may eventually fail. $700 to replace the alternator . And no, they won't just replace the clutch. It seems odd as when I turn off the engine, the accessory belt stops and then the sound starts.
Does this make sense or am I getting taken for a ride ?
Thanks in advance !

part #27415, $94
Even though it's on german import, theory is the same.
Sewell parts list it as discontinued
