Default Buying a 2008 RX400h: Quick Answers Please!

We're buying a used 2008 RX400h from a Lexus dealer. We saw the car last night and think that we're interested to move forward soon. I've got a few questions that the salesman did not answer convincingly, he sounded like a politician double speaking on promises. We're going back this afternoon to discuss with the dealership again:

1. The unit has a Mark Levinson option. Will this system on a 2008 RX400h be able to receive SIRIUS satellite? The reason I asked is because we have a lifetime subscription that we can transfer over. Salesman seems confused with the Sirius-XM merger and thinks that because of that, a Sirius receiver can receive XM signal, and vice versa.

2. With a Mark Levinson and NAV system, will the car have voice activated controls?

3. The right headlight has tiny water droplets inside the lens assembly. Salesman says this is covered by Lexus Certified Warranty which the vehicle has. What's your experience with Lexus warranty covering this particular type of issue? Should we just have it replaced as part of the deal now?

4. Apparently from my reading online, the adaptive laser cruise control was an option in 2008 RX400h. How would I know if this vehicle has that option?

Thanks for your thoughts in advance!

Are you buying this vehicle from a Lexus dealer? If not, the headlight thing would not be covered. The CPO warranty can only be sold by a Lexus Dealership. It is also not transferable.

You should post this in the Hybrid forum (400h) as well.

1. If it has the Lexus satellite radio, it is a XM unit.

2. I think it has limited voice commands. However, they never seemed useful enough for me to learn them.

3. From what I've read on the site, a lot of people have had trouble getting Lexus to replace the headlight for condensation issues. If it really bothers you, I'd get it in writing from the dealer that they will fix it for free as part of the purchase.

4. I don't think the adaptive cruise control was available on the RX in 2008, but I'm not 100% sure. However, if the car has the manual in it, you could flip through it and find out how to tell if it is installed on the car.

Good luck with your purchase.

Thank you guys for the quick responses. Yes, the vehicle will be purchased from Lexus dealer.

Anything else that I should be looking for? Thanks again folks!

1. You can add a Sirius radio that will be the same as the XM (if it has one). Check Vaistech.com for options. They even have an upgraded option that gives Pandora on the nav display.

2. You will have voice commands.

3. Have them fix it BEFORE you get the car.

4. No clue about the laser.

It's mentioned in our 08's manual. I think you can flip through the dash displays to see if the adaptive cruise display pops up.

EDIT: FYI manuals are available online. See page 143:
