Could use some help with Blue tooth and phone.
Picked up a 2008 RX with Nav. Unfortunately, I didn't originally get the owners manual . Finally got one from the dealer but it does not have info about using the phone ststem. SA paired both my and my wifes phone, But today I tried using my phone and it did not recognise it. Tonight in the garage with just the key in the ignition it recognises my phone . I figure that there is probably a supplemental manual for using the phone that I don't have. I've tried https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lex...nual-search.do but that has not given me the info I'm looking for. Any suggestions? TIA

What phone? Some phones an have their own connection issues where BT is concerned in being consistently connected. But I am no expert. My iPhone connects without issues. but getting it connected was a bit of a hassle. Once I figured out the codes were 1212 not 0000 as usual it was great.

Go through the manual and take a few minutes, park in the garage and delete the previous owner's settings. It only takes a few minutes to pair your phone into the head unit. The more you tinker with the settings the easier it will be to navigate through them...

You do realise there is nothing about the Nav system in the Manual.

Sounds like the dealer did not give you a complete manual set. My 2007 RX350 came with the following manuals:
1. Owner's Manual
2. Navigation System Owner's Manual
3. Navigation and Bluetooth Quick Guide
4. 2007 RX 350 Quick Guide
5. Warranty and Services Guide
1. Owner's Manual
2. Navigation System Owner's Manual
3. Navigation and Bluetooth Quick Guide
4. 2007 RX 350 Quick Guide
5. Warranty and Services Guide

and once you have paired a couple of phones with the car, you have to choose which phone you want it to recognize. If it is still set on your wife's phone, it probably won't recognize yours. You choose in one of the choice screens on the nav display.

I've tried LG phones, Blackberry, Sonyericsson and Samsung phones with the factory bluetooth no issue whatsoever, the only thing is to delete previous phone and make sure you have only 1 phone available to connect.

I have had intermittent issues with my 2008 RX400h and both Samsung and LG phones. Most of the time it works ok, but if I'm in an out of the car a lot in one day they seem to get out of sync and won't reconnect automatically.
In those cases, I have to hit the manual connect button on the phone settings screen while telling my phone to search for available Bluetooth devices. That usually does the trick after a few tries.
Good luck.

That would be correct

You don't have to have only one phone available to connect. I have both my wifes and mine. Whichever phone it see first gets paired. I have never had an issue with it not pairing.

Also double check your phone.
Meaning reboot your phone then activate the bluetooth and make sure no other devices are connected to that Bluetooth on the phone before or while you're in the vehicle.
I have a bluetooth audio gateway in the house which allows me to stream music and internet radio from my phone to my old stereo system from the 90's, but when I go to the vehicle, sometimes it does not pick up my phone right away. I have to check the phone to make sure it's not trying to maintain a connection with the audio gateway but connects to the bluetooth in the vehicle.
It could be the same issue if you have a blue tooth headset. The phone might try to maintain a connection or have it set to that device and ignoring your car. You can have multiple blue tooth profile and devices connected to your phone but it can only speak to one of them at a time. So if it's tied to another device, it may or may not recognize it or just simply ignore it because it's already connected to something else.
just my 2 cents.
Hope this helps.
