Definitely not normal, are you sure you installed the bulbs in the right orientation? The grounding probe should be facing the bottom of the headlight housing.
Hmmm interesting, I noticed your cutoff isn't sharp either compared to my RX330 and retro'ed Camry (using MDX projectors). Can't believe Lexus did this on the 350/400's....

Well, supposedly the retrofitters prefer rx330 projectors over 350/400... maybe it has a better cut off.

lets see how these CBIs do on the RX
Keep us posted. It's funny, my generation Camry cannot fit the rx350 which is what I wanted, only the MDX fit with little modification. I'm just surprised I can barely see your cut off line while the squirrel spotters are so bright like a non-HID setup.
It's an old pic, but it's a 2004 RX 330 no AFS with Osram CBI bulbs
thanks.. i am assuming that was at least 20 feet from the wall? I did read that RX330 had small spotters that were 3 small holes. This explains the faint dots in your photo. Supposedly Lexus installed a bigger, horizontal spotters on the 350/400h.. which explains the small rectangular boxes in my picture.
Hmmm... still the plot thickens.. i would love to see a picture from other models.. close to the wall (3-5ft) and farther... 20+ ft.
No problem! I honestly don't remember where the car was in relation to the wall. I took that pic in 2012 when I first put the CBI's in. They are about due for replacement now. Off topic, but I am probably going to go back to something with a warmer color temp (4600K or so). I don't know if I am just spoiled by other cars, but the CBI's seem to suck in the rain, but they are awesome when it's dry. I haven't ever driven a 2nd gen RX 350 or a 400h at night, so I couldn't tell you.
Op- did you ever figure this out? I changed bulbs in 09 rx350 and same thing is going on. It wasn't like that before changing bulbs. I'm thinking it's something with bulb seating, but it's so tight in there its hard to see. Thanks

Hi, it’s still the same. I just brushed off as my CBIs being brighter than stock. Personally these bulbs are not too great.
