Yes it can be done, and yes the dealer has to do it. The 3rd gen, you can do it yourself.

Yes, they are one of the c-best settings. They can be configured at your local Lexus dealer only.

I would suggest reconsider. My nephew went through a very bad experience with all doors unlocked on one press.

I have both of my cars set to unlock all doors on the single press, rather than the double press which is the default, and, in over 15 years, no bad experiences - just convenience.

No I did not mean there is a problem with the locking/unlocking. There is a personal safety issue. In the incidence I mentioned, couple of hoodlums with weapons entered the car at the same time as all doors unlocked. It is a miracle my nephew is alive today. If all doors did not unlock at once, the guy behind my nephew could have made him open all doors. Who knows ... but a single squeeze and two squeeze does not make a huge difference.

I am not trying to scare people and expect that all us are aware of the area we park the vehicles but it is better to be safe than ...

It currently takes me three clicks to open the hatch, unlock, unlock all, open hatch. If I get this changed to one click then it will be just two to open the hatch? This is a bigger deal than it might seem in that about 30% of the time I mess up the sequence timing and get to press it 5 or 6 times.

Salim, I rarely drive at night, I have never even seen the interior lights on this car. I don't go to honky tonks, pub crawling and dives anymore, I no longer chase ladies of questionable virtue and I quit smoking, in short, I am a bore. But I am safe enough to have this frustration saving mod done.

You make a good point Salim. Most women will put their purse on the passenger seat or floor board when entering the vehicle. The one press all doors unlock makes it easy for someone to open the passenger door for a quick grab and run.

Why go to that trouble when you can unlock the driver's door with one click and all of the doors with two clicks?

Rite now I just unlock once with the fob. And then hit the lock on the inside of the vehicle for the rest. However, my next trip to Thompson Lexus this will be on my list of things to change. Including the auto headlamp sensativity.

It's not a lot of trouble to have the setting changed, or to change it yourself on those newer models which allow it. The reason for having different settings is that some people like the convenience of having all doors unlock on a single press; others prefer the single door only, and don't mind the double press to unlock all the doors. I have my cars set to unlock all doors on a single press, but I know that a lot of people, for different reasons, don't want that, and that's fine with me.

It's all a matter of preference, yes. I like the once to unlock, twice to unlock all.

The other setting that drives some people crazy is the auto lock/unlock when moving to and from PARK. I personally like it, but I know others who are driven crazy by this feature. This one can actually be changed by the owner without going to the dealer. It's in the owner's manual if anyone cares.
