My exhaust arrived today but I won't be able to swing by a shop until next week. Can't wait.

Talked to a shop that a friends referred to me. I explained what I needed in detail they will do it. Def under $100. That's fine with me.

$65 to get installed.

I feel the car is a little snappier off the line but the sound upgrade is nominal at best.

After getting under the car (my daughter dropped it off/picked it up), I have to wonder if I shouldn't ask for less curve in the pipe. Being too picky?

Well, I really don't want anything like a ricer fartcan sound but the MF is pretty quiet. One of us should be the guinea pig for replacing the center muffler with a resonator.

If my FAS gamble pays off I will replace the huge center muff with either a flow through muff or a resonator. If it doesn't work I'll put a heavier one back on. I'll ask Lexmex's opinion before I do it.

BTW, that's actually the factory pipe behind the MF.

I don't want to rice out either -- but was hoping for a tad more throatiness. I was eyeballing that center muffler. I wonder what the possible negatives are for going with the resonator?

Best muffler I ever had was for my Scion xA. Srock CAT but racing header and SRI was a nice performance. However why I mention it was the xA is a 1.5ltr 105hp engine and the exhaust was a really nice deep rumble that was really only noticed when up close and driving away. Not even close to a ricer sound. I was hoping for the same with this one. But for $128 I am happy with some performance gains even if a little along with my CAI.

However at some point I will prob. spend some $$ on a real exhaust that is an exact fit like a Tome's or TRD etc. etc. See if it's more to my liking.

PS: So jealous of you guys getting them installed! I am going to hold every shop I go to on the $60-70 install price range.

The exhaust I had for this car was a tanabe.

I had one of these on my RX300 and it was just right. There are many vids of 300s with this muffler. The set up on the 300 was factory resonator in the middle and muffler behind the axle. The 330 is the opposite, main muff in the middle. When I saw the setup on the 330 I knew I would eventually replace the center muff as well.

So, what gains we got are from the increased flow of the 14829 but the center muff is still seriously holding things back. We are in uncharted territory as far as I know. We have to find the balance of the right amount of sound and also avoid any interior resonance.

Bet it would have a nice sound if you replaced that bigg-*** muffler with a Turbo muffler....

If there aren't any sensors connected to the middle muffler then I'd put a straight pipe there to the new muffler. For sure you'll get better sound. It's VIP yo!

I think I'm going to go with Valeno's suggestion and just cut out the center muff and try that for a while and if it's too noisy or drones I will have this this muff sectioned in. I think using this 2.5 inch MF as a resonator will probably be the ultimate solution but I just have to try it straight through!

I PM'd Lexmex about this and he said it would be a very loud, farty, raspy mistake. He said the 2.5 Magnaflow as a resonator would probably get me where I want to be. Thinking.
