My dad (bless him) tried to manually close the rear lift gate, while it was automatically closing. Ever since then, when I use the automatic function, it closes, but makes a loud popping noise as its going down. It opens fine. What can I do??

Have a look at this TSB. Unfortunately, if you're out of warranty, it won't be free (unless you're on really good terms with your dealership).

So sad for me. No, I'm out of warranty. And I would have to get my husband or a friend to do the job- which is out of the question because it involves removing the headliner. I guess i'll have to live with it. Thanks for the response, though!

cant it be lubricated some how? and at least cut down on the noise some?
