Default Removing protective molding around wheel wells, etc.

I just bought a silver/black 2005 RX and love the car so far. The interior and exterior is perfect. The only thing I'm not loving is the fact that the previous owner put what appears to be an after market array of protective moldings. They are on the door edges, around the wheel wells and along the front and back bumper. They are affixed by a heavy duty double sided adhesive, but I can tell that if you pull it a little, it would come off. The color is perfectly matched, but I would really like to remove them. The dealer was afraid to touch it because of fear of damaging the paint. I have that same fear, but thought it may be possible with a heat gun, Goo Gone and patience. Any thoughts?

Agreed. I would avoid Goo Gone, Goof Off, and all that other stuff on your car. Think the main ingredient in that stuff is Acetone which would do a number on your paint if it came in contact with it.

Just go extra slow with the heat gun and use the lowest setting that gets the job done.

At your own risk, heat gun and dental floss.
