Keeping your seats neat
Our baby is due in about 3.5 months time and I have been thinking about how I am going to keep my leather, well, not ruined. I have a lot of friends who have kids and I know that the child when young will pretty much dirty up the whole rear. Of course, the fun part is that being in Australia, we get the perforated leather, meaning that anything (anything!) has the potential to actually get into the seat. How do I protect this? I have been thinking seat covers as the best solution to this? What are those that have had kids opinions on keeping the "Lex Rex" tidy.
I saw this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lexus...Q5fAccessories
Cheap I know, but if it is going to get ruined...........

No, I don't play soccer!
draco, congrats. I would suggest being careful with the rear vents too. A neighbor's child had a problem with car sickness and became ill when he was in their RX and, well, I don't think I need to explain the rest. He had to go to the dealer for them to disassemble the middle console. I couldn't tell him how to do it.

Thanks kitlz, luckily I know how to take the centre console apart. I have had to do it once to find some jingly jangly coins that were buried in the console.

I have an '05 RX and we keep car seats, often just one, for grandkids. To keep from scuffing the leather, I position a soft terry cloth towel under the car seats. If the weather is inclimate, I tuck another small hand towel under the front of the car seat and let it drape over the front of the seat. That way, when the grandkids climb in and step on the leather, they are actually stepping on the towel. Obviously, every day use like you are anticipating is going to cause more wear and tear than my situation. Oth, I had an Acura Legend with leather seats and sold it at the 15 year point. The buyer commented on how nice the rear seats looked. Keeping them cleaned and conditioned periodically will help you maintain the appearance.

UV is the enemy of leather. If your car is garaged at homw and at work and with periodic cleaning and conditioning, it will look and feel good for many years.
