Default Extended Warranty

My 2007 RX350 will be 4 years old next month. And it was time to look at an Extended Warranty.

I have been looking around. And found a thread on the GS section. Which turned out to be the best deal I could find.

I got a 6 year 70,000 miles Lexus Factory Extra Care platinum Zero Deductible Warranty for little over 800 dollars.

If your looking to purchase one. I highly recommand Jerry at Midwest Toyota.

Just send him your location of purchase, VIN and current miles to get a quote.

Wow extended warranty has gone down a lot. Got mine for close to $1200. Good deal. And I have used it and believe it has paid for it. maybe I have a total of $2,000 in claims. Minor issues but definitely needed repaired.

Now we have another source of reasonable ext warr.

Excellent deal, good for you MC5Wes! but seems too good. Pay attention to fine print and who the insurer is. Dollar amount seems more in line with extended SERVICE (prepaid service). Buyer beware.

Default Warranty

This is a Toyota warranty. Not a 3rd Party. Just got the Paperwork from Lexus on Friday.

The cost on the Lexus web page is 1200 dollars.

Bump..

MC5Wes, does the car have to be under 50k miles to qualify for this warranty? What is the qualification to purchase one? Im looking at an 07 RX350 from a private party with 40k miles. Will that car qualify? Is the 6 yr/ 70k miles on top of what you have now? Or from the year of the car and total mileage of 70k? Thanks!

As far as qualifying for the extended warranty from Lexus:

1. Car has to be within the factory warranty period, must be less than 48 months from 1st service date

AND

2. Car has to be below 50,000 miles

at the time of the extended warranty purchase.

Your car can be 49,999 miles and days from your 4th year anniversary.

You must submit evidence of mileage to them though. In my case, I took a picture of the mileage meter and emailed it.

This is what I remember, anybody else chime in if I am inaccurate.

Simply "base warranty must be in effect"

Does '6 year 70,000 miles Lexus Factory Extra Care platinum Zero Deductible Warranty' gives you extra 6 years 70K miles on top of 4 years and 50K miles? Or it is extra two years and 20K over manufacture warranty. If it is former, it is too good to be true.

The 6yr warranty begins on the date the vehicle was placed in service originally.
The factory warranty is 4yrs 50k miles so the 6 yr/70K miles warranty will extend the original warranty by 2 years and 20K miles. Jerry at Midwest Toyota is great. I just bought a 8 yr/75K miles warranty for a LX with 3lK miles for $1765 zero deductible. Could not find anyone to come close. And yes it is a Lexus factory warranty. Good Luck!!

So you had $2000 in claims in two years of the extended warranty period. It sounds a lot. Any major repairs you have experienced? I owned Camry in the past. During 12 years of ownership, in addition to the needs of changing struts for smoother ride I had no other repair at all. Of cource, preventive maintenance as well as changing break pads/rotors were not included.

Side mirror issue, they replaced the whole assembly. Brake switch issue. Plus some more.

Peace of mind, priceless.

The original warranty on my 07 ended in June, 2010 but I had purchased a 3 year/100,000 extended warranty.

Just the other day I received a letter from my Lexus dealership stating that I qualify for another extended warranty. I'll try to call the number tomorrow to see what the deal is and the price they quote for it.

When it comes to extended warranties, do the home work to find out who the insurer is. If you buy it at Lexus dealership, it does not mean that that it is from Lexus. Last I checked Lexus extended warranties stopped at 100k .. butit has been a while.

I called the 888 number this morning and talked with the rep. The company is Automotive Product Consultants, Inc. and their letter says their service contracts are accepted by Lexus of Clearwater:
http://www.apcisg.com/BusinessDetail...ion=businesses

The rep I spoke with, Charlie, said they offer a 4 year (from time of signing contract)/100,000 mile warranty (what's on the odometer) for $2,487, a 5 year/100,000 for $2,600 and a 7 year/125,000 for $2,703.

That's significantly higher than the $800 quote that MC got from Midwest Toyota.
