2007 RX350 nav update - 5.1 to 10.1
Update is very simple. The NAV DVD needs power to update so turn on the car ignition (I started the car).
1. access to NAV DVD player is in the tire change tool compartment. Look for a plastic rectanglar access panel on the right side of the compartment,
2. remove the DVD access panel,
3. you will see the DVD player with 2 buttons and the DVD slot,
4. the left button is actually a DVD access slider. slide the button to the right to open the DVD access door,
5. press the right botton and the NAV DVD will eject,
6. insert the update NAV DVD,
7. slide the left button to the left to close the DVD access door,
8. replace the plastic DVD access panel.
The NAV automatically reboots with the new DVD.
The "I Agree" is now a driver warning message which automatically disapears in about 5 seconds.
My new NAV DVD cost $199.99 at the Palm Springs Lexus dealer, but they wanted $105 to install it. You can do it yourself in 1-5 minutes, if you're really challenged.

You have to remember the total cost in having the DVD changed.
They have to spend time writing up the work in the computer
They have to drive the car back to the service bay area.
They have to remove the stuff from your trunk
They have to remove the plastic wrap from the DVD case
They have to eject the old DVD and dispose of it
They have to insert the DVD
They have to verify its operational.
The have to put everything back in your car.
They have to do the computer work. Showing the work was accomplished.
They have to return the the car back to the delivery area after it has been washed.
They have to collect the funds.
Plus add the cost of the big screen TV, free drinks and food. And the leather chairs in the waiting room.
I think 105 dollars is a good deal.

This of course is not a legitimate DVD. The contact us link in the website simply goes to a email question form. No indication where they are located or who they are. The price alone is a dead giveaway. I have never seen a real Lexus DVD in the latest version sell for less than $179.
