Please help~ strange problem
Hi guys,
How are you doing? I've a 2004 RX300 second gen ~ it is a Jan version Harrier with 3L engine.
Recently when I press on the accelerator hard, I heard some strange noise coming from the engine~ Sound like a racing car....wooooo.... (I didn't feel any power lost but only feel the car being more noisy on hard acceletation)
The noise only occur on between 2.5K to 3.5K rmp, is anyone in here has got the same problem as i do?
The car used to be very quite, even on hard acceleration it goes smooth and quite~ But now it is very noisy.
Please help on that. BTW, this is a wonderful RX300 forum~
Cheers
Steven

Thanks in advance

Here are a few places in the US where they sell Lexus parts at reasonable prices:
http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/par....asp?id=180654
http://www.lexuspartsmall.com/index.php
http://www.parts.com/
http://www.carparts.com/
http://www.lexuspartsonline.com/
http://www.factorylexusparts.com/servlet/StoreFront
Once you identify the parts you need, you could re-post and I am sure other members would help find a place to buy.

Keep in mind that your engine is the 1MZFE that was found on the 1999-2003 RX300s 3.0 L engines (that may be news to some of you that did not know that about some of the early 2nd gen Harriers/RX300s).
Anyone with a welding torch could probably take a look underneath the engine or just listen to any particular odd sound and put a spot weld on the area. You don't need a muffler shop for that.
The picture shown below is the common area I have seen that issue pop up and I had to get it welded.

I wonder is any1 here has change their shocks? I'm thinking of using TRD, is any bro got experiences on that?
I wonder do i have to change the bush....etc... as well? since the car is 7 years old and the road condition in my area is not so good.
Thanks in advance

We will have to wait for some one who has actually made the switch to comment on before/after comparison. Usually the answer is based on 'feel' with so scientific data to support either answer.
After 10+ yrs, the only problem I have had (and others too) is the ripped protection sleeve on the rear shock. Bushings are all fine, but on mostly smooth pavement driving, they have not been stressed.
I would suggest take the vehicle to a suspension place (again it doe not need to be Lexus/Toyota). They can check the condition of the bushings. They can examine the play lot easier by pre-stressing the suspension. Without this, the things have to be really bad to be obvious.
If you do change the suspension elements, I would suggest to buy new bushings. One can take things off with less care and the new setup would be 'tight'.
