Default What's included in the Brake recall ?

Hi All,, I received letter from Lexus for my 2004 RX330 brake booster recall. Anybody has this recall done yet ? also, what's performed by the dealer ? besides replace the Brake Booster, will they change the brake fluid as well ?

My RX was made in Japan, 90K km and so far everything perfect !

BTW, called the dealer and they have no parts at Toronto, so will have to wait...

if they replace a part of the rubber seal located at the rear of the brake master cylinder that may become dry, i am positive they will have to flush the old brake fluid in the RX to ensure it is factory fluid that contained the polymers.

I called about it yesterday and they have to change the brake fluid. I'm at 60K, so I get that part of the service for free. The oil/filter I'll get done and have them check everything else. I can change air filters, check wipers, etc.

I thought that was cool, don't have to pay for that part.

word to the wise, make sure you ask if they will cover anything that brakes during the recall.

since the cars affected are 4-6 years old, its entirely possible that when they crack open the bleeder screws that one could snap clean off, thus requiring a new caliper. question is, who is on the hook for it?? i am pretty sure lexus is, but they may try and put that on an unsuspecting customer.

just a thought

Also, do we know yet if they are topping up our fuel tank as well?? (they used to)

Are all 2004 RX 330's subject to the recall or just some? Who do you call to find out?

I couldn't adjust my schedule so I'm going in on 12/6 for this service. I was told they will provide me a free RX 350 loaner and that the process will take 2 hours minimum depending on what they find. I'll post on whether they still do the gas fill-up on recalls like they have in the past.

Default You will receive a notice if you are covered

My dealer said since this isn't a critical recall they are staggering the notices so that they don't get overwhelmed. They don't even have the parts in stock yet to do the repair. Hang tight, you will receive notification.

Recall service follow-up...

The recall went as planned. They gave me a new RX for a loaner and the job took about 4 hours which included a routine service too. They did top off the gas.

Wow, 4 hours and a loaner. Have to call in an appointment. Any chance you can post the service report (minus the name of the dealer). Thanks.

It's pretty nondescript.

1 W 32LEZALG RX,GS,IS BRK MSTR
Perform Safety Recall ALG Brake Master Cylinder Cup Replacement

2 C *33LEZ *LOF 6 CYL
Perform lube, oil and filter service. Change oil and replace filter with genuine Lexus filter, lube chassis when applicable, top off fluids and check and set tire pressures to specs.

3 C *35LEZ rotate tires.

Not sure what the codes represent.

jfelbab: Are those 3 free of charge (I know #1 is the recall).

No. The latter two items were my routine service items which were due at this time.

The brake recall and the gas top off was free.

I think the "W" indicates warranty service and the "C" indicates chargeable service, but that is just a guess.
