Depending on your use and environment the interval would be either 5,000 mile or 7,500 miles or 6 months if that is sooner. It's spelled out in the manual. Some dealers make a lot of money duping people into unnecessary service.

Determining the Proper Maintenance Interval
Follow these guidelines to determine which interval to use.
5,000-Mile Intervals
Use 5,000-mile intervals if you primarily operate your vehicle under any of the following conditions:
•Extensive driving on unpaved or dusty roads.
•Towing a trailer or using a camper or car-top carrier.
•Repeated trips of less than five miles in temperatures below freezing.
7,500-Mile Intervals
Use 7,500-mile intervals if you primarily operate your vehicle under conditions other than those listed above.
Your vehicle is equipped with a dashboard light to remind you when the engine oil needs to be replaced. The light is amber and labeled “MAINT REQD.” When you turn the ignition key to the “ON” position, the light will illuminate for about three seconds to indicate that the reminder system is working properly.
After you have driven 5,000 miles since the vehicle’s last oil change, the light will illuminate for about three seconds and then flash for another 12 seconds when you turn the ignition key to the “ON” position. If you use 5,000-mile maintenance intervals, you should replace the engine oil at your earliest opportunity once the light starts flashing.
After you have driven 7,500 miles since the vehicle’s last oil change, the light will remain illuminated when you turn the ignition key to the “ON” position. When this occurs, you should replace the engine oil as soon
as possible, regardless of which maintenance interval you use.

As for the post above, who recommends an interval in excess of 7,500 miles on a synthetic in a 3.3L V6? I posted this in the other oil thread, but I had an oil analysis done at 8,600 miles and Mobil 1 EP 5W30 was spent; so much for a "15,000 mile oil". As expected, at 5,000 miles, Pennzoil Platinum was still doing well.
In the 3MZ-FE 3.3L V6, without an oil analysis, I would not push any conventional oil past 5,000 miles nor would I push any synthetic over 7,500 miles.
As for synthetic building up a layer beyond 7,500 miles, not sure what that is in reference to.
As usual, YMMV.

You guys are all crazy!
If your engine oil cap says 5w-30 - regardless of what oil is used (conventional or synthetic) the interval is still 5000 miles or 6 months which ever comes first.
If your oil cap says 5w-20 - you can use synthetic oil ow-20 but the interval is still the same 5k or 6mo
If your oil cap says ow-20 then you can go 10k or 12mo under normal driving condition!
In areas that have extreme cold weather, 3000 miles or 3 month on conventional is highly recommended if you do many short trips and extensive idling/warm ups (don't forget the oil gel issues back in the days on the older rx300)
You spend a lot of money when you bought your lexus no? Why not keep the engine in tip top shape! Frequent oil changes doesn't hurt.

If you live in a cold region, beyond needing to consider the use of 0W20 or 0W30 motor oils, you more than likely would fall into the special conditions and would have 5K mile oil change intervals. Under no circumstance do you need to change your oil at 3000 miles unless you hit the time limits or you can tick off all the special condition clauses. The days of 3K oil change intervals for the average new car owner are long over.
Now, the dealers all want you to use the 5K service interval. My dealer told me the Owner's Manual was wrong. As I use Mobil 1 in my RX330 and since it gets on average only 300 miles most months on the odometer these days, with the exception of one trip to PA and back, I only change my oil once a year. I use WIX filters and my oil looks very clean coming out, though I have never had it tested as I am not going for longevity.
