I am the happy owner of a second RX. I just bought another one this weekend. I purchased a 2009 RX 350 in spectacular condition. And ridiculously low miles of 118k.
I love this car and was motivated to get a 2nd one because my original made me so happy. (2004 rx330 with 280k)
now my wife has one and I have one. I wanted to reach out and find out if anybody has any specific tips or suggestions in regards to this specific lexus model.
Usually when I get a car I do a few specific things as a new owner. 1) Drain the oil and put in fully synthetic oil, 2) change air filter, cabin filter, 3) sometimes I change the plugs to iridium plugs.
Any tips? I want to keep this thing pristine and see if this one can also go over 280k.

I'd make sure that the oil cooler hoses are changed to metal lines vs the rubber ones, as well as swap the vvt hose to a metal line on bank one (rear head) as that one is spiced w/ a rubber hose vs bank two (front head) which is all metal line.....I'd also grab a gallon of Valvoline Maxlife trans fluid & a Wix trans filter, remove the pan as that gives you a change to clean the two magnets.....also get a couple qtrs of Royal Purple 75-90 gear oil, drain the rear diff as well as the transfer case...I also went w/ a K&N drop in air filter as well as a Wix carbon cabin filter...If it needs brakes, A great cost effective upgrade is swap out the front brakes for the gen 3 setup.... The pads/rotors are basically a wash, the additional cost of the calipers are worth it.....One look at the size difference of the pads & rotors as well as the single piston vs two piston calipers says it all....I also went w/ SS brake hoses from Tirerack as well which fit either caliper.....as well as flush out the old brake fluid.....The pedal is a lot more firmer as well as the stopping power....

The oil cooler lines are fairly easy, the bank one vvt line is a tad bit tougher....I'd say two hrs max......I used a Dorman cooler line kit & went to Lexus for the vvt line......

like one of the others mentioned; check the oil cooler lines, i would do some routine maintenance like changing the oil, changing coolant and other fluids as well so that they are in top condition; just keep doing proper maintenance etc and u should be good. These suckers can go and go and go some more(like the darn energizer bunny lol) as long as u keep up on proper maintenance and repairs as needed.

I usually do the same. I change oil every 5k and transmission every 24k. My car currrently has 166k miles and running like a champ. My brother has one with 289k and everything is original. These things are built to last.

My has the "Towing Package". The PN of metal hose is 15767-31020, but I suggest you to access parts.lexus.com, paste your VIN and check the correct PN.

Also check if your car is included in Limited Service Campaign (LSC 9LH) https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...09599-9999.pdf - but, the indicated hose still from rubber. So, I used the VVTi hose "all metal", PN is 15772-31030.

yes, Congrats! and I second the thoughts above about the VVT hose. Check it now! I think mine sprung a leak recently...now the future of our RX is questionable. (not running right now...)
