DIY Cabin air filter replacement (RX350)

how does the carbon activated filter differ from just a regular paper filter?
does it do that good of a job filtering junk and removing odors?
i'm want to place a order to stock up and i'm trying to justify the price difference in the carbon one and just the regular one

Activated carbon absorbs odors. Good stuff.

I just bought the cabin air filter to replace mine too. I saw the 2 plastic bolt and tried to twist them. My question is do we twist and pull out or twist until it out? I can rotate them well but they are not coming out.....frustrated....
I did the engine air filter without any problem.

Good post! I never did it before and thought it would be obvious, but how to turn the two retainers, and to push inward on the two white tabs holding in the filter, were good points!
On thing, I got a puralator breathe easy filter, but it does not look as good as the oem one that it replaced. The oem one had a plastic mesh to keep the filter element in place, while the puralator does not have the mesh. Wondering if the puralator will deform under high fan speeds?

I just changed my cabin filter. It literally took about 4 or 5 minutes total. The old filter was pretty dirty with some small leaves and a few dead bugs smashed in there. I put in a new Beck/Arnley filter.

I just changed my cabin filter with a piece of carbon fitler cut from airconditioner...so that i only need to change the cabin filter once every 2 years, and change the carbon filter every year....huge saving

Denso makes good filters and they are not terribly more expensive than the rest.

I must say it's retarded how easy it is to install with the RX330 I don't know why I waited to darn long to try it. Also I wanted to add I was having bad smells the last couple of weeks. Today when I did the change to the new filter all the smells were gone. Seriousl! I had no idea.
