Transmission flush

Fresh means, JM2C:
1. Visually the same red as the new fluid. Get a drop from tranny and a fresh fluid bottle on a white napkin, compare.
2. Does not smell burnt. Compare the smell of fresh fluid vs. tranny fluid.
If visually the same, you should not detect a burnt smell. This is based on my experience for Acura, Honda, Toyota and Lexus.

And I check the tranny fluid (perform the above) , once a month.

just had my 15K maintanance done. They changed the tranny fluid and both differentials fluid. I also checked the Lexus owners web site and this was recommended by Lexus for a AWD 2008 RX.

Look guys, if you are concerned about it and want to replace the tranny fluid just do it. I simply follow the Lexus recommended service schedule. The Toyota WS fluid is expensive and I prefer to save money by not having unnecessary maintenance done.

Since my car has 115,000 miles on it I know I need my spark plugs done, replace my air filter, have the transmission drained Is there anything else I should have done while I'm at the mechanic?
