Hi guys,

New member and soon to be new rx330 owner. It comes with the 18" option but Im thinking of getting 20' with 255/45R20 on them and am wondering anyone here running that setup? What width + offset for the 20s to have it flush with the fenders (just a tad inside so i dont have to worry about clearance), without reducing the backspacing. If you guys can post some pics of your similiar setup. Thanks!

edit: i dont want to use spacers, would rather have proper offset + backspacing

Yes quite a few 20's here, they look good too. 22's do not jive with our RX, JM2C.

I've tried a variety of sizes of wheels on the RX but can't recall all the specs of each wheel. Here's what I do remember though.

20x8(or 8.5) +35 and it sat flush with the front fenders.

22x9(or 9.5) +15 and it was flush on rear but stuck out a little on front. Rear was perfect tough.

I've ran 22x9.5 +35 and it was flush on front but needed a small spacer on the rear to make it flush. In addition I also used lug nuts with extended threads to get more holding power.

The only way to get both front/rear flush with the fenders is to use different offsets f/r but same widths f/r. From my testing it seems +35 front and +15 rear is a good fit (depending on width). The problem is finding wheels that have the different offsets that would work on our cars, aside from custom made wheels. Spacers are fine as long as you use 10mm and less. Anything larger would require using either adapters or longer studs.

I'm sure other sizes, offsets, widths would work so I can only speak on what I've tried, YMMV

This is great info I wanted to add to the discussion and interject a couple of questions. Might be helpful to the OP as well. What about us that have AWD? Is there an issue having staggered wheels to be flush? Also mandyfig what about 22's are so bad. Is it that the quality of ride is downgraded too much?

I had no ride quality issues when I ran 22" wheels, actually it felt so much more comfortable than the stock wheels IMO. I'm sure tire choice and size are factors of this as well.

For AWD, just find a wheel that offers different offsets that make the wheel sit flush with the fender. If you can't find one, no sweat, that's what spacers are for.

Are spacers safe? Yes. I know a couple of people who use them on their daily driver and track car. Just make sure you torque the lug nuts to spec.

REALLY!?!?! I am surprised. I mean 22's would need low profile wheels I am thinking. Last time I went from 16's to 18's with low profile tires the quality of the ride on the little car I had was horrible. Only when I got a wider wheel w/ higher tires did my ride improve in comfort.

Cool I thought AWD needed same size wheels for some reason.

How about 21x9+26 21x10+39? I am sweating a set that I can get used cheap but are over 4K new.

thanks for the great info! I too heard staggered rims on AWD cars can damage the drivetrain? not sure if this is true or not?

When you go to test fit, be sure to take pictures so we know how it fits. At the least take note of fitment in the wheel wells.

Let me restate what I'm trying to say as I think I might be saying it wrong.

For our cars, we need to use different offsets in the front and rear to get the wheels flush with the fender, but using the same width in the front and rear.

For example:

front = 22x9 +35
rear = 22x9 +15
tires = 265/35/22 on all 4 wheels

This should bring the wheels flush with the fender and also allow for tire rotation to get the most out of the tires.

I'd like to run a set of Venza 20s. I just can't stand these ginormous and quite frankly GAUDY wheels that SUV owners like to run.

i think oe wheels look just fine.
