Default Battery replacement procedures

Has anyone replaced the battery themselves? Our battery is on the way out, and I am looking at the way to preserve car's settings so I dont get a blank NAVI screen etc. Any advice on how this should be done is appreciated.

Salimshah had a DIY on how to replace the battery without losing presets. The key is to find that post-thread.

The trick is to prepare every thing so that one is without power for a brief time.

The other way is to have aux-power [another battery with wires (can be thin wires ... need not be jumper cable) to provide juice].

The way to minimize the loss is to move the seat settings to your preferred position and when you have power save the current location.

i have also heard that if you make / get and adapter for a cigarette plug and attach a 9 volt battery to it, it will save your presets,

this worked for me when i worked at acura a few years back

Please have a look at this thread. The navigation system is unaffected by replacing the battery.

I don't think this works on an RX because the cigarette lighter sockets are 'off' when the ignition is turned off.
