radiator leak
hi to all
i got a 2004 rx 330 with 70000 kilometers with a radiator leaking. i went to the dealer here in toronto canada and ask the service tech if they have a recall on radiator for my vehicle. guess what ? there's a campaign to replace the radiator. they replaced it and even gave me a service vehicle at no cost to me. not even a penny. so good luck guys, my rx was built in canada.
cheers

Any idea what kind campaign is it? Is it a TSIB # for it. I just found out my 04' RX330 had radiator leak too. The leak is very small but you can see the marks that pink coolant left behind.

The TSB is an extended warranty one, if you have a leak, if it falls in the location specified (bottom part) then they will replace your radiator for free. I think they doubled the time. Check with your dealer.

Mine got a small leak just traces of coolant from the top close to the filler neck. The dealer just run my vin number and they approved the rapair right away. They did not even bother to look at my car. They just booked me right away.

I did a detailed post or two a year or so ago: I had the same thing. Lexus appears to have a bad set of radiators in a series of '04 RX cars, and will replace ones that leak if they fall within a set of serial numbers. My guess is that the cost of this is born by the maker of the radiators. Even though my '04 was still covered under CPO, the dealer said it would have been replaced anyway since I had a car within the range of cars that were subject to the leak prone radiators.
Spontaneously leaking radiators are rare, so it is nice that this problem was seen and fixed. Since the repair takes a while and often the part has to be shipped in, a loaner is usually given since the car should not be driven while leaking [insert your own joke here].

I just left my local dealer with the information thats posted on this site about the radiator leakages , my RX33 has 131k and they promptly informed me that I'd have to bare the cost of replacing the radiator $1,200.00, do I have another alternative ?Is Lexus obligated to replace the defective parts without costs to me?

If not, you are way past warranty.
You can purchase the OEM radiator through Lexus parts. Take it to a mechanic you trust. Save on reduced labor rates.
You can buy a used radiator through salvage yard.
You can go to a radiator shop and see if they can repair your current radiator. They should be able to install an after-market or even OEM radiator for you.

After 100,000 miles, it's a little late to expect free repairs under any circumstances, I would think. Also, $1,200.00 is about right for a replacement radiator, even if you have to "bare" [?] the cost. Before that, you might check out an independent shop to see if the radiator can be repaired. If so, that would surely cost much less.
