Default Certain 2007 RX350 needs VVT-i Oil hose replacement

I just received a letter from Lexus that my car (2007 RX350) needs to have the VVT-i Oil hose replacement free of charge by Lexus Dealer.

I have scheduled for 10 AM today. I believe they will replace the rubber hose with a metal hose.

In the last two days, I've seen a few drops of oil on the garage floor.

So, keep an eye on yours before it blows up the engine.

Where is it located? Can you get pictures?

you should mention the oil leak when you go in. as that new oil line may not be a culprit and you will want them to check it out while its in there hands

I don't know where it's located, but this is called LSC 9LH - Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i) Oil Hose Replacement Limited Service Campaign.

Mine was replaced this morning, I asked if the replacement hose is rubber or metal and I was told Rubber.
They didn't have to jack up the car nor drain the oil. It was done in about one hour.

I could not find anything on Lexus, but here is the same problem on Toyota RAV4:

I checked the My Lexus website and I had a notice to have this done. I am scheduled for Thursday and with a loaner. Thanks for posting the info as I have not gotten a letter.

This is crazy. Two days ago I thought I noticed oil on the ground under the car. I thought, naa its just water. Then again today I saw a smaller patch of oil. Now I come home and read this thread. Im surprised I haven't received the notice, but its listed on my My Lexus page as well.

It's on my My Lexus page, so I called the dealer. They're going to fix it tomorrow. All I have to do is drive the 250-mile round trip, and they'll even top the tank off. They say it'll take an hour and a half.

I asked the service rep "Is this something that could dump all the oil on the side of the highway and make the engine seize up?" "Yeah." He said they'd been seeing a lot of cars come in for the fix.

They did it, in an hour and a half as promised. No free gas, though. Oh well. I'm not complaining.

I didn't know about this recall on our 2008RX until our dealer called us this evening. Sure enough it's listed next to the RX in the My Lexus site. Will get it fixed tomorrow or early next week. Glad I'm getting this fixed now before I drive 2500 miles to the west coast. I've never noticed any oil drip on the floor except water condensation from the AC unit. The Service advisor who called me said he wouldn't recommend taking the vehicle out on a long trip until this hose is replaced.

This looks like a global recall. Mine was booked in for a service on the 15th so they will attend to the recall at the same time.

Question Is oil hose recall on all 3.5L V6 engines?

Does anyone know whether the recall applies to all Toyota/Lexus vehicles with the 3.5L V6 engine or is it just limited to SUVs? I'm just guessing the new 2010 RX is probably included since it has the same V6 engine.

As far as I know, this issue is for most Toyota / Lexus that have V6 (2GR-FE) Engine.

I just got it done on our 2008 RX350AWD and it took the dealer less than 1.5 hrs to replace the oil hose, change the oil, check brake pad wear and wash/vacuum the RX. The service advisor said some vehicles were exhibiting oil leak but quite a few didn't leak at all. He said the same problem occured on the Camry but this recall is not applicable for the ES350 based on his understanding. He said so far all the vehicles coming in for this hose replacement have been the RX350.

Going to dealer tomorrow to have fixed on wife's RX. ES350 does not need repair due to the oil hose being a single piece of metal tubing. The RX, like most of the Toyotas built with the same engine, has a multi-piece vvt-i oil hose with a rubber hose in between...this rubber section seems to be where the rupture is occurring.
