Default RX350 Brake Pad Service 45K miles

Hello,
I was wondering what I should expect to pay (Ballpark) to have new brake pads installed on all four wheels for a 2007 RX350 at the Lexus dealership. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys

Default Are you sure ...

that you need new rear pads? A lot of vehicles wear out the front pads well before the rear ones. Also, check with the dealer to see what the standard is for wear on the rotors before they need to be replaced. If they are worn too much you can, as you may know, get a vibration when braking due to them warping because of heat.

It won't be cheap and I suspect the rotors will have to be replaced too. I'm on my second set - brakes and rotors - at 49K. The first set were free due to a rotor defect. The second time I got the rotors for free and only paid for the brakes. It was around $600 for parts and labor.

You might want to consider going to a Toyota dealer instead. There are also plenty of DIYers here that can tell you how to get it done cheaper.

It is quite simple...but Toyota would be a good option.

Default The Final Verdict

Hi guys,
I just wanted to follow up with the information I received so people that have the same issue will have some guidance.

The car only needed Front Brakes. They were at 3/32". The car has around 45K miles and this is the first brake service of any kind. The total cost of the maintenance seemed reasonable so I went ahead and authorized the work.

The estimate is $360-$395 depending on the parts required.

Hope this helps.
Thanks for all your replies.

Yikes. Quality pads should cost less than $50 and take about an hour to install. Are they flushing & replacing the brake fluid and installing new rotors?

Default do it yourself

I just did both sets of pads on my 04 RX330. The vehicle has 69500 miles and this was the first pad change. The rotors were in excellent shape. The pads had over 50% left but I changed them anyway since the wheels were already off. I do mostly highway miles, so your brake condition may vary.
good luck,
cbo
