Low and behold, they are replacing my driver's mirror as well as the rear bezel, both of which are almost clearcoat-less at this juncture, at no cost. They said it is a "one time deal to maintain customer satisfaction." I couldn't be happier that I asked. Well, I'm satisfied!! Lexus and I have had a rocky road thus far, but they are on their way to redemption in my book...
My wife's RX350 is 3 months old and the paint is peeling from the top edge of the rear bumper cover, very close to the drivers side tire. The dealer in Watertown MA told us that Lexus would only strip the paint, and not replace the bumper cover! I wish we had your dealer!! (we're long from happy about this so far)

For people like me who owns an '05 and way out of warranty, what's another option? I don't think Lexus will do anything to salvage the paint at this point.

Get it repainted in another color? :P

Depends on how much money you want to spend on a 10 y/o car. Also depends on what's peeling. Lexus actually calls it delamination as I was told by our service writer several years ago. The mirrors, door handles and the trim piece on the rear hatch were all replaced on my wife's Bamboo 2007 RX 350 in 2009 under warranty as described in one of my posts way earlier in this thread. On 2008 RX's the door handles were chrome. You may be able to find some chrome handles at a salvage yard. I personally wouldn't use those cheesy plastic "chrome" handle covers you can get on eBay but YMMV. The mirrors and the plastic piece on the rear hatch probably come off easily if you're a body shop and lend themselves to being repainted. If the paint on the body itself is peeling that is a different issue than most folks are complaining about in this thread.

I personally wouldn't mess with a 10 year old car as the expense in doing this won't be reflected in the car's value.

I got a $670 quote to fix the "delamination" problem by a professional paint matching company that I've hired before for my other car, which they did a great job.

Since I'm thinking of selling the RX soon (2005 model, 62,000 miles), I wonder if the $670 investment is worth it. For instance, if I sell to CarMax, if they see cosmetic problems around the car, they would probably offer me way less than if the problem was fixed...

$670 may be worth it. 6,200 miles a year? That car's gotta lot of life in it yet. Will be a good pick-up for somebody if you trade.

Bend over. Lexus doesn't care. If you want it fixed, fix it yourself. Lexus ( Toyota) is only interested in selling lots of new models. To hell with the people who previously purchased with the thoughts of quailty. Yes, you can put on chrome covers from e-bay that look like chrome covers from e-bay (which I did) and have the mirrors and back piece repainted (like I did) but to expect Lexus to do something? Forget it... Buy a Porsche..

Same issue here, my wife's has 130k on it 05. 600+ for the parts at the dealer. I will be getting a quote for repainting this week. If the paint is too high ( from what I understand it is) thinking about black handles. Maybe plasti dipped. Do you think the handles will hold up looking nice with that on there? What about that rear plate being dipped too? Maybe a photoshop guru can post a bamboo pearl side and rear pic with those pieces black.

Well you can't just throw the baby out with the bath water. Lexus should stand behind this particular issue because it's been a problem from early on. It doesn't mean they don't make good vehicles. I've had 3 of them and loved every one, even though they haven't been perfect.

Really? In another thread you mentioned that you never waxed your Lexus. How did you expect the paint to be protected?
