Default Tire Newbie Please Help

I need to get some winter tires for a 2009 RX 350. My inlaws had an Audi A8 and they are willing to give me the tire and wheels.

Its a Pirelli 240 Snowsport

The dimensions are
245/45-19

Will this work on my car?
Do Audi rims fit on Lexus rims?

Thank you for your help.

When I looked it up on Tire Rack, the recommended size for 19s were
245/50-19.

just checked, the bolt pattern on the A8 is 5X112, the RX is 5X114.3

you cant use the rims (unless you buy adapter plates) but you could reuse the tires,

Awesome thanks for your help

So I just need to buy new rims but the difference in tire size is acceptable for my car?

Just confused because the recommended size for 19s on RX 350s are 245/50-19 but these ones are 245/45-19

The difference from 50 to 45 is not going to matter?

Thanks

its going to cost you more money long term to run the 19's.

first you have to buy some new rims, 17's willl be cheaper than 19's.

then when the 19 inch winters wear out you will have to replace them (obviously) and they arent cheap.

17 inch rims and tires are alot cheaper than 19's.

i could see going to 19's if they were for your summer tires and wanted looks. but why waste the money on winter wheels

Yeah I see what you mean. I live in Calgary AB. The weather is quite awful here. It's winter at least 6mths a year. It snows from Oct to May so the winter tires would be on about half of the year

Yeah I say listen to Kiwi and buy smaller wheels, the bigger the sidewall the better(for winter use). So with 17's it's cheaper and you have a smaller chance of damaging the rims by hitting a pot hole.

+1, great answer , as the 19's would be so much more expensive to replace

You will likely have more choices and availability with 17" winter tires, in addition to the cost savings.
