Default RX330 / RX350 / RX400 : During your ownership what broke down?

Hi everyone my extended warranty on my 04 RX330 (currently 100,000 km) is coming to an end and I would like to take the SUV in for a final check up.

It would be helpful to all of us and future Lexus RX owners if we shared our experience and note down what mechanical and electrical problems we experienced with our RX.

I know for myself I would like to read others experience and be proactive so the problem could be mitigated or even down the road if I experience similar issues I can have a better idea as to solving the problem.

I hope everyone can contribute

Since I started this post I guess I will go first.

What I drive:

2004 Lexus RX330 (made in Japan)
Navigation, back seat DVD, backup camera
Currently 105,000 KM with no modification

Mechanical / Electrical issues:

8,000 km:
The back had a rattling noise and the problem was the trunk cover was not clicking in right
50,000 km:
The ABS light came on. The dealer checked it out and told me there is nothing wrong and turned the light back off
100,000 km:
The SUV shook very violently one day when I was going down hill at around 50 km/h. The problem was fixed by updating my transmition computer. Also I found out later that my wife was putting in regular fuel for the two month she had the SUV. I don't know if there is any correlation between the two.
Thanks for reading

Have you had all TSB's done on your RX? If yes, you are pretty much all set. What's your extended warranty terms, number of years/mileage limit?

Here's the report card on mine:

2004 RX330 (one of the last from Japan-September 2003)-Performance package (AFS, air suspension/sequential auto trans, 18" wheels), nav, heated seats
Mileage-48K
Extended $0 deductible warranty until September 2010

Issues (very few I might add):

Pick-up day - inoperable rear window switch

16K - defective rotors (rotors and brakes replaced no charge)

16K - condensation in headlights (both replaced no charge)

34K - basically all of the lights on the right of instrument panel on after service (O2 sensor replaced no charge)

42K - condensation in fog light (replaced no charge)

All routine maintenance has been performed by dealer at regular intervals, with alignment every 15K. Knock on wood, the 04 has been a solid car.

Re the fuel, 04 was designed for regular. I try to at least put in midgrade.

2006 RX330 (01.2006 production), Canadian build, AWD, currently 51k miles on the clock. We purchased it used exactly a year ago (it was a lease return).

I've been doing all the regular maintenance on the vehicle myself and so far no issues. I could not obtain the maintenance history on the vehicle when I purchased it but Carfax indicated regular trips to the dealer, so I somewhat trust the information.

What has been done since I got the car:

- Replaces air and cabin filters;
- New brake pads;
- brake fluid flush;
- Rear diff and transfer case fluid drain and fill with Amsoil synthetic gear oil;
- Two oil changes with OEM oil filter and Amsoil synthetic oil;
- New tires all around;

Pending:
- transmission fluid drain and fill with Amsoil ATF (might wait for the car to hit 60k as the fluid is in very good condition still)
- next oil change rotate and balance tires;

Basically, I am trying to follow manufacturer suggested maintenance schedule with slight deviations. Whatever I can't do myself I take the car to an indy mechanic I happen to trust.

I have a 2004 RX330. The problems that I've experienced are as follows...

Transmission reprogrammed
Sunroof cables replaced (several service visits)
Front freeze plug antifreeze leak
Loose side view mirror
Rattle at highway speed (brake cable hitting body)
Brake booster (recall)

All other repairs were maintainence items. Not bad for 60k.

No major problems on either of my 04's. I try to do all the PM's on time. My wife's has 82k and mine has 71k, great cars and both have given us good performance. For most of my services I go to a Toyota dealer.

2007 RX350

Only problem so far is the passenger side headlight getting some moisture after a car wash, took it to Lexus and they replaced no charge.

I forgot, the battery was replaced two years ago - no charge. I'm sure it had to do with the extra equipment I have in the back

Sounds like alot of similar issues. Only one I can think of is the headlamp computer went out. Make sure to switch bulbs to test! Otherwise the dealer may tell you its the bulb then hit you with a $1000 headlight PC/ballast! The PC/ballast is NOT a consumable item and therefore covered under Mfg and Extended warranty. If inclimate weather you may get some condensation in the light and the dealer may try to blame it on this so get it fixed before this is an issue! Although my dealer stated that as long as it burns off within 15 minutes then it is "normal". No other known issues

The only real problem I had with my 04 RX was the left front "headlight computer"/ballast, which after the help of this great site,I replaced myself for about $125.00. I also corrected the water leakage which caused the problem with help from this great site. Current lieage is 82K.
04 330/nav/awd/premium pkge/ml sound/back up cam/heated seats/18" wheels/and some others.

Some people claim that the Canadian built RX has more problems? Mine seems fine so far @ 63000miles. EH?

2004 RX330 Performance Package and Nav currently with $103,000 miles no extended warranty.

I dont remember what happened when, but here is the gyst:

Headlight Condensation, replaced no charage
Radiator Leak, confirmed not the same area per Recall, charged
Air suspension cable failed, charged
rear spoiler lining (rubber glue that holds it down) was visible, replace/realigned no charge

current issues that popped up in the last week:
CD player will not eject nor play disc 6.
Rain sensing windshield wipers decide to go on randomly even when there is no rain nor debris

I thought you were getting a Hybrid?

No timing belt work yet?
