My 2004 330 RX, a Japanese made, now has 103,000 miles. I am the original owner. During these miles, replaced two set of four tires from Costco. Battery replaced at around 90k. Do self oil service using PepBoys brand oil filter. Replaced air filter with Puralator brand one. Time is coming for timing belt change, spark plugs change, and transmission fluid change.

Make sure the dealer checks both headlights. When I had a problem with one of mine, they found the other had some condensation too. Both were replaced under warranty. Good luck.

My '05 RX has 116,000 miles. No major issues until the last oil change. Dealer says I have a slight leak at the tranny pan gasket, a broken motor mount, and best of all I have a leak in the steering rack assembly. The last item is a $1600 repair although they offered a non-oem part installed for $1100 after I balked at the price. It's nice not having a car payment and the car has been great so far...just hope this isn't the start of something bad. Might be time to trade it for the new GS ;-)

faulty wiring: $450
new starter: $350
Replacement headlights: $240
replacement tail light: $120
Transmission pan gasket and left axle seal $180
right side axle replacement $320
new front speaker $170
rear window panel molding: $130
replacement mirror: $200

It also looks like I might have to replace the motor on my passenger window as it is dying. Wow, I had no idea how much I spent on this!

2005 RX330 AWD 65K Miles

Serious Quality Problems with this Canadian made Lexus RX330

-SUV had to be towed as engine was heating up - water pump broke at only 65K miles
-Had to replace both water pump and timing belt and drive belts at 65K miles
-Headlight gets moisture and not clear - dealer will not replace them for free
-Door handle paint is coming out

Not sure if I will buy a Lexus or Toyota again due to quality issues - may be the best option is Kia w/ 10Yr/100K miles warranty?

97k , yr 05, original owner, abs actuator (pricey). Now leak radiator (1100.00). Very frustrated, I don't think those are are wear and tear, also replace wheel bearing right rear. Did not expect it break so soon. Always dealer service follow maintenance program. I expect better than this. It's Lexus!

Default Transmission goes out @ 101K miles

My 2007 RX 350 with 101,000 miles is in the shop for transmission rebuild or replacement. I'm more than miffed at the need for this so soon. Cost-wise, using a Lexus remanufactured transmission is going to be about $4,200 total, versus $3,600 to have it rebuilt by a transmission shop. I've owned three Toyotas and two other Lexuses, and all of them have far surpassed this mileage with no transmission problems. That said, I've owned this car a little over three years and have had no other problems. So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for three more years with no major expense.

We have heard only a very few transmission failures here at CL when it comes to the 2nd Generation RX. Not so with the 1st Generation RX300 which this was known to be a big headache.

As a matter of course, we do recommend regular drain and fills of the appropriate ATF no matter if it is using Toyota T-IV or Toyota WS. Am wondering how your RX was treated by the previous owner.

rx400h spark plugs misfiring thru a CEL @ 94k miles - had them replaced and car running perfectly again.

other then that ive changed
- timing belt water pump (normal maintence - no issues)
- all fluids as per maintenance schedule.
- typical pads/rotors

*knock on wood*. still on original battery as well.
thats it!

car almost has 95k miles
