Default Battery Life of 2007 RX350

hey guys, hoping somebody can provide some feedback.

our 2007 RX350 started getting some starting problems in the last week. the engine would crank when i turn the ignition, but won't start until the 2nd or 3rd time when i turn the ignition.

i'm suspecting it's the battery, but we've had the car for only slightly over 3 years. is this normal???? the car does have 67k miles, so we do drive a lot (and start the engine alot i guess). is the original stock battery still under warranty?

i thought the original stock batteries last for your typical 5 years or so, no?

thanks and i appreciate any feedback.

Kinda gets me when you folks say stealership...Have you ever been in a business...You have to make money..Everyone wants the lowest car price they can get...The service dept. rips us off....You want a nice car but you don't want to pay the price...I think most people on this forum shuold be driving used Ugo's...Sorry but tired of hearing about the stealership...Try running a business and see how hard it is to make a profit....

A lot of the people...Not most........Give the dealer credit for trying to run a first class dealership.....

I would venture to guess that over 75% of Lexus owners take their vehicles to the dealer for service. You may not want to pay them but there are plenty of people who do. I enjoy doing my own maintenance and repairs but most do not or don't have the facilities or time.

Edit:
If it is cranking on the first try, then I would say you have a fuel or ignition problem, not the battery.

A 2007 RX should not have a defective battery and mileage driven is irrelevant. Some owners rack up 30,000 miles per year and others only 5,000. This could be a starter problem or something else. Take it to the dealer and have I checked out, the 2007 would still be under warranty. As a point of reference in addition to my 2007 RX350 I have a 2002 Toyota Tundra that is still running strong with the original battery.

how does that work - regarding water level? i noticed the directions on the battery that says if it looks dark in the indicator hole, it needs distilled water? there's water in the battery????

non-maintenance free battery cells need distilled water filled to the correct level as indicated by the instructions on the battery. if the level runs completely dry it becomes extremely dangerous (it could explode), and it will also no longer work.

The battery in my 07 RX350 failed after about 44k miles. Dealer sent their road service vehicle to my home and within about 40 minutes I had a new battery - no charge - all under warranty.

If you replace the battery yourself, remember to reset the windows and sunroof so the one-touch continues to work.

first, if the car is cranking, then you obviously have juice in your battery, (if you turned the key and all you heard was a rapid clicking, then suspect the battery.)

second, you cannot top up the water level in your battery, they stopped making those batteries several years ago.

third, try costco for a new battery, if you still think it needs one

The battery is guaranteed in number of months, not miles. Cehck your warranty guide.

I believe it is good for 84 months.

I think it is actually written on the battery as to number of months, at least on my battery it does.

My 07 Rx350 battery went out when it hit 42k miles. Took it in the dealership and it still under warranty. The new battery has 84 months warranty written on it, so I'm good to go for a while. Free car wash and free rental. Call your dealership representative and ask them about the battery because I thought battery will not cover under warranty but I was wrong.
