Changing door locking settings?
The manual says the automatic door locking and unlocking settings can be changed by turning the ignition on, selecting Park or Neutral, and holding down one side or the other of the door lock switch. The does not work on my car.
Any ideas? (short of a trip to the dealer).

What year is your RX? In most cases, that's a personalized setting that needs to be changed by your dealer. According to the manual, they will do it for free within a month of vehicle purchase. Some have reported that their dealer did it for free since they had their RX serviced there.

2007 400h. Manual page 19 says the following functions can be set or cancelled: Door locking/unlocking when shifting out of/in to park, speed linked door locking, driver door open unlocking. Procedure says close doors, turn ignition on, and within 10 seconds put shifter in park or neutral, hold down driver's door lock/unlock for 5 seconds. Table on page 20 shows which Park/neutral & lock/unlock changes which setting.
It appears the 2007 RX 350 manual says the same thing (pages 9-10?).
I was just hoping someone might know if there's something missing from the procedure in the manual. It's over an hour's drive to the nearest Lexus dealer, and according to the manual I should be able to change these particular things myself.

Ah, you're right about what you mentioned in the manual. I misread your question and thought you were referring to the remote unlock feature (one press to unlock all doors, instead of pressing unlock twice). Sorry about that.

I had been trying to do this on my 2006 RX400h with no success. I was getting quite frustrated till I found a post somewhere where someone advised that they counted the flashes of the : on the clock display.
I tried it and it worked!!! What I did was push the lock button to lock when the : was not displayed on the dash clock, held it, and counted 5 flashes of the : on the dash clock. After the fifth flash, I released the button, and the door locks cycled indicating the programming was successful.
Of course, depending on what you're trying to program, you may need to be in neutral and you may need to hold the button to unlock. The manual explains it all. In my case, I was trying to activate the autolock when moved out of Park.
By the way, to cancel whatever you've programmed, you just go through the procedure again.

Worked on my 07 RX 400h too. That's some pretty **** computer programming, but at least they gave us a few options that didn't need paying a dealer to change. Looking at the 2010 RX manual, it looks like if you get the nav you can change most of the options, curiously leaving a half-dozen or so that still need to be done by the dealer.
Thanks for the solution.
