iPOD for RX 330
My Harman Karman launch Drive + Play iPod dock died. Any suggestions on what type of docking station works with my type of car? Any word on the one that works thru the navigation system? Can I still use the navigation and the iPOD at the same time?
Thx

+1 on Vais and yes you can use the nav and ipod at the same time. of course you can only have 1 screen up at a time: map or audio but nav will track and give commands while you are playing the ipod.

Thanks all. Somehow my iPod works again. But all these tips will come in handy in case I wanna upgrade. FYI: I also have Sirius hooked up thru the radio controls now. Not sure if that makes a difference.

If you ever decide to go the Vais route, there is a specific model number that is compatible with Sirius. I have read that there is a Lexus unit for ipod control that is not compatible with sat radio. at least when it first came out. I don't know if it has been refined since first release.

You may be right, good catch. I was thinking about a newer 350 which is what we have. Vais does have a variety of products and I think some match up with a 330. But may not be touch screen compatible.

I've been reading the ClubLexus forum for a while, but figured it was time to get involved. I've ordered the Vais SL2i-UP and it is supposed to arrive tomorrow. Can't wait to check it out. Hope to install it in my wife's 2004 330 this weekend. However, I don't think her 2004 has integrated NAV, so I am wondering if I could have gotten away with a less expensive USA Spec unit like Sup_Lexio instead.
Anyone have experience with a USA Spec in the 2004 330 with Nav, ML and DVD entertainment system? If so, which model (PA15?) Will the USA Spec operate from the steering wheel and show up on the text screen like the Vais unit? Will the USA Spec charge the 2008 Ipods? If it does, all these things and costs ~$60 less, then I may get a PA15 for the 330 install the SL2i in my 2005 Sequoia with integrated Nav and rear DVD, so I can use more of the SL2i features.
Last question, any opinions on where to run the cable for a discreet installation of an iPod Classic 120 GB?
Sorry for all the questions, but I appreciate your responses.
BTW, I plan to follow the installation instructions included in this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=227901 I'm just not sure I like the iPod sitting in the tray.

Bring this thread back to life
I'm trying to decide between the Vaistech SL2i-UP and the USA Spec PA-15 Toy. I know Vaistech is a site sponsor so that gives them an edge. However, it appears the USA Spec will let me use an iPod and second device as well using RF jacks. I believe neither will interface with the Nav touch screen since my '04 RX 330 does not show Sound information at all. It appears the Vaistech is more expensive even when using the holiday discount available on this forum. Any input or comparison information would be appreciated.

We've had the Vais SL2i-UP units in both our 2004 RX-330 and 2005 Sequoia for two years and they work great. We don't have Sirius, so that was not an issue for us.
If I had it to do over again, I'd either go with the less expensive USA Spec unit, or the Vais video unit. The SL2i-UP has great playlist control, but I never use it. With two kids fighting over the iPod in the back seat, mine has never left "simple" mode in two years. It doesn't show song information in "simple" mode, which would be a nice feature. So for my situation, the USA Spec might have been less expensive choice.
Both vehicles have RSES, so the video SL2VI might have been a better choice.
