From reading related threads on this site, warranty work has to be done by a Lexus dealership. You could call Lexus headquarter to see if they will make an exception. Also, the nature with randomly reproducible error is that unless the dealer verify/see it , they may NOT fix it. Maybe you can call the dealership in advance to see if they will take the picture from a digital camera or some kind of recording as evidence - Hate to see ya drive a long way to a dealership only to get turn down because they can't reproduce the error. Let us know if you get the issue resolved with the dealer.

I would take it with being in MT you are probably stationed at Malmstrom in Great Falls. There is a dealership in Billings (the last I heard) that you might call and check with them on your problem. The other option as noted by howdybob22 is to call the Lexus customer service number listed in your manual. They may let you take it to a Toyota dealer. While Lexus usually requires warrenty work to be done by them they may give you permission to take it to a Toyota dealer to have it checked out. You may have to have any replacement work done by a Lexus dealer but the Toyota dealer may be able to confirm the problem and pass it on to the Lexus dealer or if minor maybe fix it with their permission. Good Luck!
